BJP leader and nominated Rajya Sabha member Navjot Singh Sidhu on Monday resigned from the House, fuelling rumours that he may join the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
“Navjot Singh Sidhu, nominated member, resigns from the Rajya Sabha,” tweeted Gurdeep Singh Sappal, OSD to Vice- President Hamid Ansari.
Dr. Navjot Kaur, BJP MLA from Amritsar (East) and Chief Parliamentary Secretary (CPS) in the SAD-BJP government, has also reportedly resigned from the post of CPS.
According to sources, Mr. Sidhu and his wife Mrs Kaur are all set to join the AAP.
AAP leader and Punjab State convener Suchha Singh Chhotepur told, The Hindu that talks were being held inside the party about the possibility of the 'Sidhu' couple joining the AAP.
“We will welcome both of them into the party. They have a clean image,” said Mr. Chhotepur.
Rumours are afloat that Mr. Sidhu could be named as the AAP's chief ministerial candidate for the for the Punjab Assembly elections next year.
