BJP forms committee to coordinate govt social schemes

To ensure that NDA’s social welfare schemes such as the recently-launched Jan Dhan Yojna are well-publicised and reach the people, the BJP has formed a committee comprising Union Ministers and party leaders, which will coordinate between the government and the party.

The initiative is to make sure that the social schemes have the active participation of the people and reach the beneficiary.

One of the major reasons for setting up the high-powered panel is to make sure that the schemes were not ‘hijacked’ by middle-men, sources said.

The committee comprises Ministers Ananth Kumar, Nirmala Sitharaman, Piyush Kumar and Smriti Irani and BJP leaders Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, J.P. Nadda, Ram Lal and Bhupinder Yadav.

“The panel will ensure that government’s social welfare programmes are communicated properly and have maximum people’s participation. The party wants to ensure that the schemes do reach the people,” Mr. Naqvi told The Hindu , adding that the publicity of the schemes will be on the lines of party’s campaign to seek votes.
