Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said the Union government had taken steps to maintain good relations with all countries, and this would definitely play a crucial role in tackling complicated issues such as border disputes with neighbouring countries and terrorism.
Mr. Singh views on both Mr. Obama’s statement on religious freedom and ghar vapsi are slightly at variance with the views of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah, expressed in an exclusive interview to The Hindu on Sunday.
Mr. Shah had said that Mr. Obama only elucidated a matter of principle and had no incident in mind while he spoke of religious divides affecting progress.
Avoiding an outright disapproval of ghar vapsi , , Mr. Shah had said a law banning all forced conversions must be enacted.
