Bihar court asks police to file case against Raj

January 08, 2013 11:46 pm | Updated 11:46 pm IST - Patna:

A court in Bihar on Monday ordered the police to file a case against Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray for his recent remarks blaming Bihari migrants for the Delhi gang rape.

The chief judicial magistrate at Bettiah in West Champaran asked the police to file a case and investigate it under Section 156 III of the Criminal Procedure Code after a local advocate filed a complaint.

The complainant said that those “words affected the integrity of the people of Bihar and amounted to their defamation,” the CJM told The Hindu .

Bettiah Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar Naik said the police were yet to receive the order copy to file FIR.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who had criticised the MNS chief for his persistent anti-Bihari rhetoric, refused to react this time round. “Reacting against such people is a waste of time,” was all that he had to say.
