The controversial Gujarat cadre IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt has been issued summons to appear before the Ahmedabad rural court on November 16.

He has been issued the fresh summons based on a complaint by the investigating officer of the K.D. Panth case stating that the IPS officer was not co-operating in the inquiry and had also tried to mislead the police when summoned to appear before it for questioning.

The investigating officer said Mr. Bhatt ignored four summons issued to him by the police and when finally he was called to present himself on September 30, he excused himself claiming that he would be required to appear before the Nanavati-Mehta commission probing the Godhra train carnage and the subsequent riots.
