Communist Party of India general secretary A.B. Bardhan on Friday led a 24-hour fast by the party demanding the government take steps to check corruption and price rise.
Supporting a strong Lokpal and its early passage by Parliament, Mr. Bardhan told an assembly that though the institution would not be enough to root out corruption, it would help in making those in public office accountable.
