Banking sector unions on Tuesday decided to defer their all India strike on January 7, 2015 with the Indian Banks’ Association upping its hike offer by 1.5 per cent to 12.5 per cent, said a union official.

Further talks are scheduled on Wednesday.

Bank employees’ unions had decided go on a strike on January 7 across the country to press for a wage hike.

The unions had also threatened to go on strike on multiple days later this month if their demand is not accepted. The unions had been demanding a wage revision linked to the gross profit of the banks.
