Bangladesh to honour Indira Gandhi

Dhaka to acknowledge foreign nationals' contributions to independence

The former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, will be conferred with a special posthumous honour for her remarkable contributions to Bangladesh's independence in 1971. This is part of a government plan to acknowledge the role of foreign nationals.

Secretary of the Liberation War Ministry, Uzzal Bikash Dutta said some 100 foreign nationals of different categories were expected to be ceremonially awarded, coinciding with the country's 40th Independence Day on March 26 next year.
