November 02, 2012 01:51 am | Updated November 28, 2021 08:46 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

The Bangalore Police were on Thursday given custody of the alleged Indian Mujahideen member, Fasih Mehmood, who is suspected of having links with those involved in terror attacks in Delhi and Bangalore. Earlier, the Delhi Police said they did not need him for further custodial interrogation.

Additional Sessions Judge Asha Menon sent Fasih to 14-day judicial custody in Delhi’s Tihar Central Jail, from where the Bangalore Police will take him into custody.

The Special Cell of Delhi Police, which arrested Fasih at IGI Airport after he was deported from Saudi Arabia, was granted 10-day custody of him by a magistrate on October 22.

The ASG said the application moved by the Bangalore Police for transfer of Fasih was allowed. “Jail authorities are directed to hand over his custody to the Bangalore Police and the accused shall be surrendered in Delhi court after his investigation in Bangalore is over.”
