The “eyewitness” in the Badaun alleged gang rape case, on whose statement the Uttar Pradesh Police had earlier arrested five persons, has come under the CBI scanner after his lie-detector test results indicated certain inconsistencies.

“We have received the lie-detector test report on the main witness, Nazru. Experts have identified certain inconsistencies in his answers to some key questions,” said a CBI official. Based on the findings, the agency may now summon Nazru to give clarifications.

The CBI also seized a mobile phone from Nazru, who earlier claimed that he did not possess one. The phone has been sent to the forensic science laboratory for data analysis.
