BSP member waves black flag, earns Speaker’s displeasure
The 20th anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition on Thursday had its echo in the Lok Sabha with some members protesting against the incident while the Bharatiya Janata Party MPs reacted vociferously, disrupting the proceedings.
The day began with Bahujan Samaj Party member Shafiqur Rahman Burq waving a black flag to protest the demolition provoking angry reaction from the BJP and Shiv Sena members.
The action of the BSP member led to two adjournments and the House was adjourned until 2 p.m. with Speaker Meira Kumar expressing her displeasure over the waving of black flag in the House. She described it as an insult to Parliament.
The BJP and Shiv Sena members repeatedly stormed into the well of the House, demanding naming of Mr. Barq.
Several members, including Basudeb Acharia (CPI-M), demanded action on the report of Liberhan Commission which probed the Masjid demolition as well as against those responsible for the incident, resulting in absolute chaos in the House followed by the adjournment of the question hour.
The proceedings were again disrupted at noon as the BJP and the Shiv Sena members continued to demand action against the BSP member.
When the House reassembled post-lunch, the BJP and the Shiv Sena members again came into the well of the House, raising slogans seeking construction of a temple at the disputed site. They were countered by Samajwadi Party members.
This led Deputy Speaker Karia Munda to adjourn the House for the day.
Earlier, Gurudas Dasgupta (CPI) raised procedural objections to the listing of the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill 2011 in Thursday’s business and urged the Speaker to postpone the matter.
Mr. Kariya Munda, who was in the Chair, announced that the Speaker had acceded to Mr. Dasgupta’s request and postponed the consideration and passage of the Bill.

Where were these flags when Mughals were killing the non-muslims?
Temples and mosques are not equivalent in terms of their religious purpose and
significance.
How about mosque demolitions going on in Saudi Arabia? How about destructions
of several mosques during Iraq-Iran war, and the ongoing Iraq and Afghanistan
story?
Where were these flags when Taliban were destroying the Bamiyan's Buddha?
What about the proposed limitations placed in EU over mosques and ban on new
mosques?
Many Mosques were constructed over demolished temples. Whether Babri was one of
them or not, are the muslims willing to remove their mosques that were built in this
manner?
If BJP was truly contrite about the events on dec 6th 1992, they should have joined the
house and asked for 2 minutes of silence to mourn the destruction of an ancient mosque,
and for the thousands who died in the riots that followed. Their behaviour suggests that they
largely view those events as a badge of honor.
Therein lies the problem. We have chose between a party steeped in dynasty and
sycophancy vs a party that can quickly brim with bigotry and hatred.
I really doubt that is which era our politicians are living into. Common, wake up there
are lot & lot of other more important issues to deal other than disrupting the
parliamentary proceeding on 20th anniversary of demolition of Babri Masjid. There
are loads of people dying everyday because of not sufficient food. India has ranked
below Sri Lanka in living standard of an average people. Can't these people work for
a collective cause "Development Of a Nation" for which they are there, rather than
provoking secular feelings among masses. They are the leader of masses and should
know what their action can do in public life. Hoping that, a stringent action must be
taken against MP.
