A panchayat pradhan and two Junior Engineers of the Public Health Engineering Department narrowly escaped attempts on their lives by armed insurgents.
Around 10.30 p.m. on Friday, the insurgents attacked the house of Chinglen Leitanthem of Nongren Mayai Leikai with a hand grenade. It exploded in front of the house. There was no casualty. Within minutes, the house of Tarpon Leishangthem, a panchayat pradhan, was attacked.
Later in the day militants hurled a hand grenade at the house of Ibochouba Konthoujam, a Junior Engineer. But it did not explode.
