The BJP on Thursday charged the government with deliberately “playing down” recent problems with China, including the one of issuing visas to Indian passport holders from Jammu and Kashmir on a separate sheet of paper instead of stamping them in their passports

Party spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad said the visa issue was an attempt by China to delink Jammu and Kashmir from the rest of India.

India should lodge its strong protest and take up the matter at the higher level. “The BJP condemns this move by China. The Government of India must explain why it has been repeatedly downplaying mischief by China. The BJP wants good relations between India and China but not at the cost of national security,” Mr. Prasad said.
