Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Saturday condemned attack on the offices of news channels in Delhi and Maharashtra terming them as an “attack on democracy“.

“Attack on Headlines Today office in Delhi by RSS activists and Marathi news channel Zee-24 in Kolhapur by Shiv Sainiks is an attack on democracy as the media is considered to be its fourth pillar,” Ms. Mayawati said in a reply to a question at her press conference.

“I strongly condemn these acts and demand stern action against those involved in the attacks,” she added.

She said it was “surprising that governments of the respective States were not taking any action”.
