Union Law Minister Ashwani Kumar has done no wrong in going through the CBI’s status report on the probe into the coal allocation scam, Petroleum Minister M. Veerappa Moily said in Bidar on Saturday.
“As Law Minister, Mr. Kumar was only doing his duty. He can offer his advice to various departments. Whether officials in those departments follow the advice [or not] is left to them,” Mr. Moily told presspersons.
He said there was no question of the party or Prime Minister Manmohan Singh initiating action against Mr. Kumar.
On the Karnataka elections, Mr. Moily said the Congress would never enter into a post-poll alliance with the Janata Dal (Secular). “The JD(S) earlier formed a coalition government with the BJP. It was also responsible for the BJP coming to power in Karnataka. On several occasions in Parliament, the JD(S) supported the NDA and not the UPA. There is no way we will align with them.”
