Congress president to start work on Monday
Fears that Congress president Sonia Gandhi could be battling cancer have been put to rest by tests conducted at a hospital in New York, a source close to her family has told The Hindu.
“The tests are clear,” the source said, adding that Ms. Gandhi now expects to return to work on Monday after returning from New York.
Ms. Gandhi had travelled to the United States earlier this month, for the latest in a series of check-ups following surgery for an undisclosed illness in August 2011. Party spokesperson Janardhan Dwivedi had said at the time that the surgery had been successful, but did not disclose where she had gone for treatment.
“As this is a personal matter that pertains to her health and medical treatment, her family requests that her privacy be respected,” he had said.
In February this year, Ms. Gandhi had again travelled to the United States for a follow-up health check.

Politicians do not trust the skills of the doctors in India, as they know that many of them could have got a medical seat with reservation because of the bill introduced by these very politicians. Even Mayavati will not get herself treated by a person from her own caste, she will also travel abroad. Now with reservations in promotions, the hardest hit will be the already fragile medical system in the country.
This is the difference between a genuine democracy, like the USA, where the health of the leader is a matter of public interest, and a phony democracy like India where everything affecting its leader is shrouded in secrecy. One obviously does not travel all the way to the USA to get treatment for a minor affliction.The public in India is entitled to know whether its leadership has the wherewithal to run the country effectively, and not be distracted by personal crisis.
Sonia Gandhi is a top public figure of a major political party.Her health and her well being are matter of concern for all Indians.Kremlin like secrecy about her foreign travel and treatment does not meet norms of democracy.It is a good news that she is free from any malignancy.Keeping rich traditions of a democratic system like the USA where The President health bulletin and health check up are made public periodically,it is in the best interest of Indian democracy that Sonia's health ,disease and treatment are made known to the Indian people who pay for her health ,her multiple travels and treatment abroad.Sonia Gandhi has been secretly travelling abroad since she first contracted the undisclosed ailment .The Indian media remained absolute silent on this issue.Even the members of the Parliament maintained a complete blackout on Sonia's health and treatment though the Parliament has a duty to learn the expenses incurred on this account.It is essential for our democratic credentials.
To: Ankit Kumar -> Do you have any information that says that she used public funds? If its an unsubstantiated allegation that you are making please understand that it is easy for someone to accuse someone else without proof and that is a malady that has now come about in India.
On the other hand if there is evidence that she is using public funds then an RTI query can be raised on the expenses and the government would be bound to answer.
It should be made mandatory for politicians to use Indian doctors and
medical facilities only. After all, they are using tax payers' money for
every single thing. There is no point in crowing that we have great
medical facilities in India and going abroad for treatment. This is a
shame and an insult to the Indian medical fraternity and a frontal
assault on the ordinary 'aam admi' who votes them to power and has no
space even in ill-equipped government hospitals!

She has no faith in even the Country's Best Hospitals.
This is Understandable as most of the Techies and Good Brains are leaving the country.
Brain Drain is not due to other countries sucking our ability, but it is due to in-equality and frustration created due to Reservations, Scams and Political Rowdyism.
Evidently Mrs.Gandhi does not place too much faith in the medical attention she could get in India.
This is shameful for Politicians who use public fund on their health and don't reveal about their treatment.They said," It is matter of his privacy". Now point is they get treatment in aboard on public fund when we don't have primary health facilities.So conclusion is that no doctor or no hospital is good in India and if there is anyone here we should not trust on them.
