Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj on Saturday night disclosed that Congress president Sonia Gandhi called her in a bid to end the parliamentary impasse and she told her that the government should announce cancellation of coal blocks and institute a fair and independent inquiry.
Significantly, there was no mention of the demand of the BJP for the resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as a pre-condition for her party allowing normal functioning of Parliament.
Mrs. Swaraj tweeted: “Friends from media are asking me as to whether Mrs. Sonia Gandhi spoke to me? If yes then what transpired between us?... Yes Mrs. Gandhi spoke to me on phone. She wanted the parliamentary impasse to end by our agreeing to a discussion... I told her that the government should announce the cancellation of coal blocks and institute a fair and independent inquiry. Then we could have a discussion.”
There is convergence in the demand of Ms. Swaraj in her talk with Ms. Gandhi and that of the Left parties, the Samajwadi Party and the TDP.
Sonia goes abroad
With Ms. Gandhi going abroad for a ‘routine medical check-up,’ it is now for Dr. Singh to take a decision.
The functioning of Parliament has been disrupted after the CAG’s report on coal blocks allotments was tabled. It said a delay in implementation of the policy on allotments by bidding caused an estimated presumptive loss of Rs. 1.85 lakh crore to the exchequer.
Senior BJP leaders said the admission by Union Tourism Minister that he had written to the Prime Minister seeking his “intervention” for allotment of two coal blocks to a company in which his brother is an honorary executive director, vindicated their stand.

Functioning pf Parliament is important, but Govt. decisions were
different from the decisions of parliament or commitment made by
govt. Even after a notification govt. is not taking serious action on
Lokpal. So if pressure built up keep it to convert in govt. decision
for Aam Adami and go for other work.
A 'janlokpal', would remove suspicions in the minds of even the corrupt.
Corruption promotes competition to get to power, and when it is sorted out there
would be no appetite to engage in disruptive politics, to get to power quickly.
A clean and independent bureaucracy, and an independent CBI, with an all powerful
and independent Anti-corruption Ombudsman is the need of the hour.
Sushma and Sonia can't play with parliamentary time. Both of them should agree to
differ, without damaging the basic pillars of democracy: parliamentary, judiciary and
respect for rule of law.
Law begins in Parliament, and parliamentarians instead of fighting over who ate how
much, should once and for all put an end to this mutual suspicion, by reaching a
consensus on 'Janlokpal'.
Sushmaji is fully aware of the role played by Gali brothers in bringing BJP to power in
Karnataka. Their ill gotten wealth got BJP to power, but tarnished the image of the
BJP in the minds of the common voter in Karnataka.
This is a sensible suggestion from the major opposition party, which
should be accepted without any hesitation.
Demanding resignation of PM for every lapse of government will only lead
to Chaos in the society, out of the fragmented election results
i am scared, how could our government avoid this big scam and how the oppositions let them to do that. its the very much true that there is a big scam, and now no investigation and nothing happened. i dont think that CAG could ever dare to make a false scam against ruling party. now sonia ji and sushma ji became two sisters and looted our country. my qn to bjp, if there is no scam then why u were doing big drama and stopped functioning parliament. they all are making common people fool and playing their game. i wish we will have janlokpal bill soon. JAI HIND
The Sonia-Congress has been assuming a high and mighty attitude. The PM
is acting as if it does not concern him.. And the BJP is obstreperous.
Meanwhile, the Parliament is getting emasculated! What is our nation
coming to?
Does it indicate admittance of attempt to defend the indefensible?
After 2G, is the nation ready to buy the official version in coalgate?
Why is UPA trying to pass strictures against CAG? The country is in
need of more Vinod Rais, if any. Instead of drooling at the American
living standards, let us build a generation of law-abiding citizens
which will automatically take care of the rest. It is a fact that
corruption is eating into the sinews of the nation. I request the
powers that be to answer one question; What have you done to convert
India into the America that you see during your foreign jaunts?
Are you all come with a clean hand? We want a government without scams.
Are you ready for that? The people in India wants a government without
corruption.
Having failed in their attempts to conduct the proceedings of Parliament for eight
consecutive days Sonia Gandhi desperately appeals to Sushma Swaraj leader of
the Opposition for co-operation in the remaining days of the Parliament session.
But this is not possible in view of the coal mine scam which has assumed gigantic
proportions causing great loss not only to the entire nation but also amounts to
mortgaging our posterity to whom we are morally answerable It is now a
question of survival of the very nation which is at stake. It is high time PM Man
Mohan Singh resigns from the post of PM and submit himself to an independent
enquiry by a Judge of the SC and come out clean of the whole issue which is the
only proper course open to him at present.
The Congress can not have it's own way. With scam after scam
being revealed this government is unfit to continue. The PM and
the Minister for Coal should resign. All the excuses they give for
a 8 year delay in auctioning do not hold any water. It is obvious
that they were raising Party Funds and are now trying to bluff
their way through. Sonia Gandhi should feel ashamed and
should runaway to Italy with her siblings. The DAYS OF THE
DYNASTY ARE OVER.
Parliament has to set an example to the rest of the nation in decent, restrained
conduct.
All major issues have to be discussed in an open, honest, debate and remedial
actions should be initiated, in a bipartisan manner.
Parliamentary time is sacred, and valuable and hugely expensive. Come what may
parliament should run.
Those who disrupt parliament should be barred from contesting the next elections.
Indian parliament should set an example to the rest of the world, in non-violent
behaviour.
Parliament represents the will of the people, and Indians want parliament to run.
How can elections rectify all the scandals?
Can BJP guarantee that it would allow the next parliament to function, if it is
deselected by the voter?
India has some credibility as we have a functioning democracy, with a smooth
transition of power, and independent judiciary.
The moment we lose these all the great work done since the days of our freedom
would be lost and we would lose face.
Digvijai Singh comment on Vinod Roy will spoil congress image;he need learn from Sonia who is unhesitating to cordially meet Sushma.Has Mr Sing done any graduation on accountancy recently? Now, he is researching on origin of Bal Thackrey.Damaging tradition of congress.
People of India & ultimatly constitution of this great democratic, republic country has provided the CAG as constitutional authority to examine & audit the financial transaction of union of executive & state also.Dont make the comment which insult of highest constitution body despite that open the COAL BLOK ALLOCATION REPORT in parliament & discusses within the house. whoever are the perpetrators of this SCAM let them come to light.
Then if required supreme court will take action.finally next general election are coming in 2014 . people will show the way to guilty person.
One regular taxpayer.
The congress should put down the governance and introspect the way it
governed for the six decades and how the law enforcement agencies,
courts and the media are spilt by it
