Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy, who had filed the petition against Mr. Chidambaram in the 2G case, said on Friday he would seek a review of the Supreme Court judgment giving a clean chit to the Finance Minister.
Even as the government said its position that Mr. Chidambaram had done no wrong stood vindicated, and its allies rallied behind it, the Left parties said they were not satisfied with the ruling and vowed to continue to demand calling Mr. Chidambaram to the JPC.
Mr. Chidambaram himself refused to comment on the judgment. .
“I have never commented on any of the proceedings pending in one court or another. And I do not intend to break that tradition,” he said.
But several Union Ministers, while welcoming the ruling, said the government had always maintained that Mr. Chidambaram was innocent and the case against him was politically-motivated.
Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal said: “I have told you before that Chidambaram was innocent. Because we knew what was the reality and today it was proved that Chidambaram was innocent and he had no hand in it... It is all politically motivated.”
Law Minister Salman Khurshid said he had “great conviction from the beginning and the court has also accepted our arguments in the case.”
He said people had a right to move a court “but when it gives a decision, it should be respected by all.”
UPA allies the NCP, the Samajwadi Party and the BSP also welcomed the ruling.
Senior CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury said: “Whatever the SC says, law will take its own course. But our duty is to seek an answer from the government on the issue in Parliament and we will do it because it is answerable to the House.”
CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta, who is also member of JPC, said the apex court judgment “does not prevent us from raising the demand for calling the Finance Minister to the JPC.”

Why Chidambaram and Manmohan Singh are afraid of appearing before
JPC in as much as they claim that the Supreme Court has given the
finance Minister a clean chit. The Supreme court in their hasty
judgement has not looked into all aspects of the case. It is very
much right that Dr Swamy calls it a "bad judgement" In politics
also, the views of Mamatha Bannerji about judiciary now become
vindicated.
We now know that it is not possible to prosecute the corrupt ministers.
With this judgement, the recalcitrant regime may feel emboldened to
thwart all attempts to get the scams investigated.People feel let down
by the courts also. The national wealth will continue to be looted. The
vast resources will be used to purchase political support.
Legal pundits will analyse the verdict. They should also analyse'why such
verdicts?'.Forget the dictum' All are equal before law.Nobody is above
law'.The corrupt regime gets new life.
It has been said the justice delayed is justice denied. The Apex
Court should understand that inordinate delays in making a judgment is
tantamount to denial of justice. Hence, firm instructions should be
issued to the lower courts not to adjourn cases on flimsy grounds. The
Apex Court has the respect and admiration of the general public for
being unbiased. However, when it has become amply clear that many
politicians have been openly flouting the law by indulging in
corruption, it is strange that none of these violators have been
judged accordingly. It is not that only the man on the street has
this perception, even reputed Rating Agencies and Financial
Institutions worldwide have expressed dismay at the extent of
corruption practised by the politicians and bureaucrats in India. One
can only hope and pray that the learned people sitting in the Apex
Court use their good offices to bring the corrupt to justice and not exonerate them because of their position.
Mamata is hundred percent right on juducial corrutpion and verdicts they pronnounced on corruption cases. Public also now feels getting cheated when Courts after courts delaying investigations of political class and exonerated their political leaders corruption which is not at all digestable for a democratic country like India. Judiciary should be more accountable to the public and transparent on their dealings, otherwise it will be treated as protectionists of corruption and corrupted political leaders in this country. Chidamdanram should go and he is the most crooked and corrupt element of UPA2 and if they are unable to get evidence of his corruption, it is because he is still in power to manage the laws. He should first ask to resign and face investigation and rest will come after him.
CM miss Jayalitha has no local stand as the case on her also dragging for more than
half decade and now it is almost diluted as we dont see any judgement
People, work in unity with the benefit of country! Stop the blame game!
DrSwamy please continue your fight against these corrupt congress we are
with you.
