Union Minister of Science and Technology Vilasrao Deshmukh was flown to Global Hospitals in Chennai, from Mumbai on Monday afternoon, in an air ambulance.
The former Chief Minister of Maharashtra has been admitted to the hospital in Perumbakkam after he suffered liver failure, according to a hospital spokesman. It was also learnt that he is on renal dialysis.
“He is in the intensive medical care unit and is on ventilator support. Preliminary investigations are being conducted on the minister,” the spokesman said. He is under the care of liver transplant surgeon Mohammed Rela.
Mr. Deshmukh was being treated at Breach Candy in Mumbai earlier.
