Mughal Gardens of Rashtrapati Bhavan have become a hit on social video-sharing portal YouTube ever since the President’s secretariat redesigned its official website by including links to social networking sites.
The redesigned website (www.presidentofindia.nic.in), which was inaugurated by Omita Paul, Secretary to the President, has included social networking site Facebook to connect to the netizens.
Mughal Gardens, which has so far 334 hits in less than a week, has been so far the most popular topic on YouTube that also has seven other videos.
The Mughal Garden video, which is runs approximately 3.08 minutes, showcases the Central pavement which is covered with Rose creepers, Petrea, Bougainvillea and Grape Vines.
The other videos on the YouTube feature swearing-in ceremony of Pranab Mukherjee as the President, forecourt view of Rashtrapati Bhavan, meetings with para sports personnel and guard of honour at the forecourt of the President’s House.
After the Mughal Garden clip, the second most watched video (224 views so far) is the one which features Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tukki meeting the President.
On the Facebook social networking page, 55 pictures have been posted so far since July 26 with more than 2,100 people ’liking’ it so far. These pictures are of call-on meetings by various Governors, Chief Ministers and foreign delegations besides children tying ‘rakhi’ to Mukherjee.
The new website also has a video gallery. Citizens can connect to the President directly by clicking the button ’Write to the President’, which will take them directly to the helpline portal. Visuals have been conceptualised and made user friendly.
With an aim to ensure to keep the website in line with the best global practices, Paul, after inaugurating the redesigned portal, had expressed hope that it would be a step forward to bring the President closer to the people.

Hope Mr.Pranab Mukherjee would again be a people's President just like Mr. Abdul Kalam.Indeed we all saw this coming and finally this will bring the citizens (netizens) closer to him.
In the much published and well read book TURNING POINT ,Dr A P J Abdul Kalam
devotes 3-4 pages on Rashtrapati Bhavan's Gardens. Two classical books one on TREES
OF RASHTRAPATI BHAVAN'S GARDEN and on HERBS AND FLOWERING PLANTS are
published during the period which are presented to visiting dignitaries.Dr Brahma Singh
OSD(Horticulture) was specially acknowledged for the maintenance and novel gardens like
swinging garden, water garden, medicinal and aromatic plants garden etc.The much talked
Noni (Morinda citrifolia L) was also collected and planted.Mughal gardens are
conventionally formal gardens with symmetry over pathways lined by edges, arches and
pergolas.Moving water with waving water plants is a special
feature.Tulips,chrysanthemums,petunias,impatiens,roses of all shades and
heights, foliages, creepers, tuberoses, gladioli etc etc transform the garden into a mesmerizing
Eden.During full moon days,it is a heavenly sight to be seen and enjoyed.A living testimony
to Indias soul and heart-----
Mughal Gardens of Rashtrapati Bhavan - it's a paradise in the flowering season.
if you search in Youtube for "Mughal Garden" this video shows up as #8
which is indicative of the fact that this is NOT a hit. 330 hits in a
week is considered a hit ? The writer is obviously disillusioned. Don't
get me wrong, the video is good. done well and has potential to be a
hit. But the writer obviously doesn't understand what a "hit" is in
internet. Please look up "viral videos"
