Charging the government with “stonewalling” their demand for an effective Lokpal, social activist Anna Hazare and his three colleagues called off their fast here on Friday with a call for public support to take the anti-corruption movement from “the streets to Parliament.”
Announcing the decision to take its plunge into electoral politics, Team Anna said it was a logical culmination of its struggle. Mr. Hazare, however, made it clear that he would not launch a party or contest elections.
On the tenth day of his fast, Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal gave a call for Sampoorna Kranti (total revolution). “It would not be a party but an ‘andolan’ [movement] without a high command. People will select the candidates. We will go the farmers, to the youth and the unemployed, go around the country asking people about issues plaguing them and their solutions. They will decide the manifesto.’’
Admitting that at this stage what the India Against Corruption planned to do was “no more than a broad vision,” Mr. Kejriwal said their aim was not to just win elections but to challenge all political parties. “We will put all the donations received and expenses on the website and challenge other parties to do the same.”
Reacting to the move, Congress, however, said Team Anna’s decision was a face saver to end the fast as the issues raised by the activists were “completely hollow” in substance. “This move is not about capturing power but about changing the nature of State power,” Team Anna said in a declaration. “Our objective is to provide a political alternative that will be realised through an electoral revolution to democratise and decentralise power and make power structures transparent and accountable to people.”
Buoyed by what they called an overwhelming public response in favour of their decision, Team Anna members said having exhausted all options they chose the path of electoral politics. They would be happy to change their decision if before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections Parliament passes the Jan Lokpal Bill and laws on the Right to Reject and Recall and empowers Gram Sabhas under the Panchayati Raj Act.
Justifying the move, Mr. Hazare said, “Those who are now questioning our intentions had earlier asked us to first get elected to the Lok Sabha if we wanted to raise these issues. Now why they are raising questions?......it was when General (retired) V.K. Singh and other eminent citizens appealed to us to break our fast and provide an alternative that we decided to drop the ‘anshan’.”
Mr. Hazare said he would travel across the country to awaken the people on the plan to give a political alternative.

Its Time to think, not to be restless or getting back to our usual
habit of "Complaining & Suspecting". Not Often we get a chance to
debate about a political change in such a scale & at a crucial time
with 2014 national election ahead. Now or Never. All these days we
were pleading for a political alternative and here is a man who wanted
to give it and that to completely with the consent of people and we
are laying back on our couch in Aircon and say "Yeah I knew these
people are upto this". All these days we have elected ("Given Change")
to idiots and criminals (few exceptions like Vajpayee , Manmohan
etc.,), why not for heaven sake we give a chance to this group of
people to see what they are capable of.. even if it is at our own
risk. I feel they are not more worse than the worst!!
Team Anna's political party when it contests elections in 2014 will cut only into the votes of the present Opposition parties and not those of UPA which may remain intact. The Opposition votes will get further divided. If such a division is decidedly in favour of Team Anna it may register substantial electoral success that may prove a stronger bargaining platform to demand from whoever forms the next government what is now denied to Anna.If that does not take place, the post election scenario will be one more political party opposed to Congress and BJP. There is ample time of 2 years for Team Anna to extensively tour the country with like minded apolitical leaders to educate the voters as to why they should support the new party.By this if Team Anna becomes a political force to recon with the UPA/BJP may be tamed to a great extent, if Anna himself cannot make it to power.
Here we have one more bunch who flattered to deceive. Their
proclamation to beat the politicians on their own turf is
naive.Remember these politicians not only weathered the ideals of the
INC movement but also succeeded in maneuvering it to their selfish
ends. Another point of Anna &co's naivety is that their declaration
that their movement will remain leaderless. Let them recall the
outcome of the French Revolution or the Sepoy mutiny either of which
had no rallying force in the form of a supremo. Let these people
realize that way to rid the country of corruption is long and must
start at the grass root level.
In the context of Indian politics proclamation of "secularism" is considered more important and other foibles like corruption and rowdy behaviour are excused and forgiven. Netas like Shri Lalu Prasad and parties like Samajwadi Party are shining examples. Once a politician declares himself to be secular then he is hailed by the big media (including this newspaper) and crowned.
At last it has turned out to be a political gimmic, resulting in Criminal wastage of Millions of man hours and money when the country is facing the crisis of runaway inflation. Who cares as long as their face appears in the News Papers and other medias and there is no dearth of people who never use their brain and all that they gained in their schols, collages and life.
Anna i am there with you with my strong groups of youngsters. After
getting impressed by your selfless duty and devotion i had quit my army
career.i will join you soon and prepare agressive strategies against all
impotent political parties....i along with my youngsters are always
ready for you even at the peril of my life
Very soon we will have Few more Indians opening their Account in Swiss Banks. may be, by now those accounts are operational, Sure UPA is getting third term these new entrants will confuse voters whether to vote For NDA candidates or these New people. Same old story haunting Indian Politics, "Devide & Rule"
We have to root out dynastic politics and criminalization of politics
only then corruption can be eradicated. For this noble cause we want The
Hindu's support.
We are with you Anna. But making a govt. in Indian
make coalition government with them which looks doubtful as most of
System is doubtful to me. The way majority has to be proved in the
Parliament is difficult for any party.
There are certain difficulties we see in the near future for team
Anna:
1. How will they select their representative in different
constituencies who are not corrupt. The selection procedure for them
is really doubtful. How much corrupt less people they would be able
to capture successfully.
2. A good political party stands take multiple decades to have a
strong stand. Are they going to make it in couple of years only.
the parties are against Team Anna specially after he calls off his
hunger strike.
Annaji's movements has inspired me to enter politics and public
service.
I think this is very good and very genuine decision of team anna. no
doubt team anna has many suporters but politics is very uncertain, it is
itself fully corrupted in india , and to win in this like win the battel
of mahabharat... but its depend on our voters, our youth, what they
think and in what point of view they are watching it. and hope we will
win this... jai hind , its time to change. go ahead anna .... all the
best.
even if some of them get elected to the state legislatures or parliament they can never do away with corruption. At best they can continue to be as a isolated group opposing corruption.
This is the right move.. and really tough times are ahead..
All the best to team anna...
I don't see any fruits in this. Worthless and effortless attempt by Anna
and his team.
Team Anna's decision to form a political party to fight corruption is not a worthy step. They must keep their team as a pressure group. Threatening fast unto death evry time lose its appeal. This time they could not mobilise the public to their cause. Media also did not take interest in this. So fast unto death this time turned out to be a damp squib. With the decisian to form a plotical party the govt. can breath easy. Present Jana Lok Pal bill with all its failours will be in a back burner. It will remain so in years to come. All sections of the society is after rich a famous. They do not care how their idoles made their riches. It is the hope that Anna will remain as pressure group to cleanse the society.
Team Anna has found out the truth about its ability to mobilise physical support. Getting a few thousand people from a NCR population of over 1 crore is not a big job. How will the TA find out honest persons who they can put up or support as election candidates? Do they have valid data on all persons? Mostly people who have not been in even low-level position in politics or government or private businesses are likely to be those who didn't take or give bribe. It will be next to impossible for any team to locate such people, make them agree to give up present careers and fight election where their chance of winning will be dim in any case. Election fighting needs foot soilders, rally organisers, canvassers, advertisement, polling centre people, and above all MONEY.
The great drama came to an end with some futuristic plan. It is shameful for the team Anna that they preferred their life instead of corruption free India. The matter of fact is that they wanted to fool the public of India but failed this time. If they would have lost their life in this battle surely they might be compared with Mahatma Gandhi. But now the reality is infront of public, they are the people with two faces. The team Anna only want to disturb the government and there must per some personal interest in crying for JAN LOKPAL.
Due to the success of last years dharna at Delhi (Jantar Manta in April and Tihar in August) encouraged the team to choose Delhi again to stage the drama. But all the time public can not be made fool. Now almost whole the Indian knows the motivation of the team who always keep silence on the mishappening in the country. Finally this drama has become Pol-Khol for the team. Shame Shame Team Anna!!!!
The cat is out of the bag now. Their mission becomes evident. Team (?!) Anna's act is a bourgeoisie stunt. The bigger names behind this drama, will eventually come out when the General Elections wait around the corner.
Currency corruption is just one form of manifestation from a corrupted civilization. There are many factors leading to this and Anna & Co.'s attempt is just to graze the peripheral part of the issue. Anyway, it's not more than a pretext.
The fast of Anna should have been broken by a symbolic common man of R.K.Laxman's cartoon, not by a known person.
Every state should have mini Team Anna and mini Anna ji so that anti-corruption drive can be intensified and make strong enough to establish a new system as envisaged by Anna ji.There are many retired state and central officials and retired military men and persons with integrity wants a change in the existing corrupt social system.Every ruling party wants to consolidate their position and power by any means. They keep pampering their own men and promote corruption at every state to retain their tainted position.Democratic electoral means to form govt.getting meaningles and helpless.Time for crusade for cleaner public life is need of the hour.Leaders should inspire cadrs and they should intnesively come out to cleanse the dirty and rubbish system.Instead of forming a party and seeking electoral adjustments with corrupt elements, right thinking men should influence the course of election.Media should not be selective in this mission.
Media should not be lured and yield to temptation.
another flop show.. wrong decision..bad...
Anna Team memebers entering into politics won't wipe the corruption from the soicety.Instead ,if the team members should enter into Civil services and other public services .This is the place where corruption breeds .If Corruption has to be wiped out it has to done from the bottom.
Excellent news! Now all right thinking people must support Team Anna in
their political battle - not just by twittering and facebooking but by
actually physically doing the campaign. The message against corruption
must be driven hard into the minds of the rural and illiterate for whom
corruption is no issue. It must be proved to one and all as to how
corruption is a deep malaise which is the root cause of ills of today.
The urban middle class which has always expected someone else to the
fighting on their behalf should get into the action.
Looking at the rhetoric of Mr. Anna and his team and reading all the
comments above, I cannot stop wondering how a simple word
(corruption) which generates intense emotions in the general public
is being used so effectively as a rallying point. For all those
speaking against it, it is the "other" who is involved in corruption.
By painting a phantom with the colors of corruption, the people are
being fooled into thinking that it can be tackled just like a villain
in a bollywood movie (who is usually assumed to be the source of all
evil). It is conveniently forgotten/swept under the rug that the
issue of corruption first starts with personal moral corruption and
metastasizes into other domains. The assumption that only a few are
corrupt and the vast majority is not, and once the few are eliminated
the country will shed all its troubles is so horribly simplistic and
wrong-headed.
Good decision. Now get ready for fight and these parties a lesson. We
are with you.
It is a welcome move. Indian public needs a political power, that works for:
1. Excellent education for all citizens.
2. An adequate employment for each citizen.
3. Simplified tax structure, no one should ever pay more than 15% tax on income.
4. Minimum 25% budget allocation on health.
5. Minimum 25% budget allocation on education and training.
6. Daily life must be regulated and governed by local bodies like municipalities or Gram-
panchayats. State and central governments play the role of facilitators and be allowed to
share not more than 15% of rvenue collected by local bodies. 85% of collected rvenues must
be invested locally.
7. Citizens be empowered to recall or punish erring or not performing representatives with a
notice of one week.
8. Only those who have paid taxes at least for five years be allowed to contest elections.
9. No subsidies, tax rebates or any discounted prices for any one. Simple and effective
structures and everything transparent.
Best regards.
First there is nothing wrong in what Anna’s team is doing in a democratic country, when we see new parties being flaunted every hour in this vast country on cast, creed or religion basis – why can’t they try in the name of cleansing political system or seeing corrupt free India in their agenda. Secondly we are in 21st century and appreciate Anna’s team decision to go the political way. We have one grand old party which is sick, crippled, haunted with dynasties on one side and directionless, equally corrupt and pseudo religion party on the other side who are all only thirsty for power and money but nothing else. We need to have an alternative which can’t be filled in by today’s other political parties which share the same blame and collude with whichever party comes to power. This vacuum needs to be filled in either by Anna’s team or by someone else who take up the same challenge. I wish a grand success in their pursuit and hope the best out of this decision.
Every Indian who had to deal with corrupt system even once would be
happy that Team Anna is entering the political arena.
That makes it all Indians..
Team Anna should now be above board in all their dealings ,be
transparent and connected to all Indians. The teams activities must be
available on a daily basis to the public and all matters relating to
money matters out in the open.
If the media cares about a corruption free India ,they should also
support this group ,keep them in the limelight and also be watchdogs
of the activities of Team Anna.
Indians are so used to corruption, that if Team Anna is out of sight
people will easily slip into the helpless mode of accepting corruption
as a way of life.
This fight is not just for Team Anna.It is for every honest Indian who
is a victim of the corrupt system
and our children
Without proper home work entering into active politics willn't make any change to the current political system. What is the strength of our political parties is that they are better organised. Team Anna can find a million more members than the present strongest one but what they need to do is to organise their supporters from the root level, organise campaign against curruption and conduct awareness programmes to educate the poor mass. It is defenite that most of the people want a radical change to our system and if the unorganised ones become organised they will be the greatest force. Be patient and start work from the root level, then you can find more sympathisers of your movement, educate them and get them prepared to fight to free our country from the clutches of organised currupt politicians. I wish success to TEAM ANNA and also wish to be a part of it.
Form the party, declare manifesto and give open invitation to few
selected MPs (based on his records/honesty/ethics) from all parties to
resign and join your party first. Why to wait till 2014 and bring
down Congress first and this itself will be your first victory .
Then face the election and win for bringing all changes needed
in Lokpal/Constitution/laws/Electrol reforms etc etc.
Simple awareness/request won't work to win the Number game, as
Congress is 150 years old. Either contest individually or join with
BJP with pre determined manifestos, as we cannot simply afford to
loose efficient and effective person like Modi too.
Congress need to be out even if they pass Lokpal, since they are
Godfather of all corruptions
I am not sure whether Anna's team has the patience and endurance to build it up as a vialbe political entity. They could not sustain their movement, the moment there was a reduced public interest , and more importantly , reduced TV coverage. In politics they will face even greater challenges - are they upto facing them ?
It is one thing to make rhetorical speeches in front of TV camera and a totally different thing to go to every corner of the country to mobilise public support.
Anna's team has the one point agenda of bringing what they call "jan Lokpal". A political entity has to have several socilly relevant issues as their political agenda and have clear stand on them.
They seem to think financial integerity alone is a yardstick to determine a "good" candidate. What about commitment to secularism, women empowerment, social justice etc.
Anna once said he is not interested in politics. Now he says I shall not form a political party or contest election.Let's see how long?!
I see good prospects of getting required finance this way and the only way traditionally in India to collect amass of money from illiterate and innocent people. After all drops make the oceon.
Congretulations to Anna.Good luck to a modern Gandhi.
Electoral politics is not Anna Hazare's cup of tea. Nor his team members'. In fact electoral politics is not about intelligent people (middle class) raising important issues. Electoral politics is all about caste and religion and the local powerful goons. Team Anna has no chance to stand in front of 'real' politicians.
When people go to vote they see their personal benefit (vote for own caste). They do not care about who will make the government at the center or who will pass some particular bills. How will you change this attitude, team Anna?
It is no surprise for the -HONEST THREE- Kejariwal , Prashant and Bedi politics was their goal and Anna became a tool. Their abrupt decision go political was due to Baba Ramdev announcing that he will make public his intentions on Aug 9th and the group feared that Baba will hijack the movement. They began with Anti- corruption and succeeded in scaring the Congress party to engage in discussion and forced it bring in a bill though a diluted version in the parliament , thus lending credibility to the movement. The bill could not be passed in Rajya Sabha as BJP do not want to give the credit to Congress, they scuttled it. BJP used Baba to convince Team Anna to shift the agenda to accuse ministers and succeeded in shifting the goal post and it was BJP plan to snatch the movement on Aug 9th through Baba Ramdev. Thus TEAM ANNA is now political as JANTA PARTY - wonder what Subramaniam Swamy will do now as his party is also similar name Janata Party . It is possible that he will file a case with the CEC tomorrow morning.
With this the Anna movement with its lofty ideals have gone cold storage and the new party –whatever name it may have eventually- will also fade away as Justice party of 30s-40s ( Thyagaraja Mudaliar against the British) , Swatantra party of the 50s ( Anti Nehru by Rajaji ) Congress-O of the 60s ( Anti Indira Gandhi by Kamaraj & Devraj Urs) , Janata party of the 70s ( Anti Indira Gandhi and Congress by Jayapraksh Narayan) and Jan Morcha of the 80s ( Anti Rajiv Gandhi on Bofors by VP Singh) . As you can see all these political formation were formed from and for a cause and vanished with it . SO SHALL BE THE FATE OF ANNA JANTA ALSO.
The issue of corruption cannot be solved by any movement, but can be by people ONLY refusing to pay anyone for any gain or any illegitimate reasons. I have lived and worked in India for over 5 decades – from 1960 to 2010 and have held very responsible positions dealing with all government bodies and ministers personally at the peak of all permit and license Raj. I have established businesses, built factories, executed contracts BUT HAVE NEVER PAID any bribe to anyone . I WOULD OPENLY REFUSE IF I AM ASKED . In fact couple of occasion I have bluntly refused a union minister when he asked for money NOBODY COULD STOP ME from doing my business. The corruption grew to this extent only because people nurtured it and nursed it for their own gain . The only way to stop corruption is NOT PAY and people should NOT SEEK ILLEAGAL favors. Without this no LOKPAL or ANNA can stop this menace
We need Clean people in politics..Kudos .I am ready to fund whatever I can for this party..
Team Anna has done the right thing. We were barking up the wrong tree. It is time we did something to change the fortunes of our country and we can do it by supporting Team Anna's party. Of course, enough checks and balances need to be in place to ensure that their candidates remain honest and committed, if elected. We have tried Congress and BJP and other parties in the last 65 years. What is the harm in supporting Team Anna for 2 terms ? What if they make a difference?
Why is it that China is becoming a world power and India is still
lagging it is only the lack of political will. The poor infrastructure
and unemployed youth are a shame for India which has almost covered 67
years of independence
Go ahead Anna ji we are with you make a party and lead
this country towards growth and prosperity
This is the right decision of Team Anna.Even if there one in a million chance of bringing in a big positive change in the existing system of governance, I would say the effort would be worth it. We can't sit ideally and keep cribbing about the system and let it rot.I pray to god to give strength to Anna and team and open the eyes of many more countrymen.God bless Anna and all share the sentiments. Satyamev Jayate!!!
Mr Ravichandran, in the above comment, should know about the credentials of Arvind, Kiran. Does he know that Arvind and Anna have big contribution in passing of RTI.
Or that Arvind as IRS officer would not know how the system works, or for that matter Kiran.
The fact that they would take back their decision if UPA listens to their demand actually proves that they outwitted the Govt.
We all know that Anna has a hidden agenda to come to plictics. Now it is vidicated
There is nothing wrong or immoral about converting the movement against corruption into
political formation. It is a natural corollary and a logical demand made on the movement by
the sheer the display of "We care a damn. Let the dog bark " attitude of the government.
There are clearer indications that the ruling political dispensation is bent upon continuing to
be thick-skinned and engage in cooling its heels in the presumed victory of thwarting the
attempts in the last session in the Rajhya Sabha to make the Lok Pal Bill into a law, by
gagging the Parliament through proxy agents in the infamous "midnight mischief"and in the
political coup that was conducted preceded by schematic and systematic planning and
executed through the unleashing of the deadly ammunition of ruckus. Need to identify
alternative ways to take the fight against corruption to its logical end has become a
compulsion. Even the freedom movement of the country needed a political formation in
Congress to carry forward it's fight to achieve its goals. Of course, problems in the country
are vast and very complex. But, if any one cares to extend a holistic thinking into the
problems directly affecting the people of this country, the major contributions for such
problems could be attributed to the unwritten but systematized practice of corruption
unabatedly going on in every rung of the ruling dispensation right from 1948 till today, of
course with variations in degree. Corruption has been the major cause for exploitation, deep
economic imbalance, failure in planning and distribution, human rights violations, violations
on human dignity, poverty and rigid class differences in the country. It has become an all
pervasive destroying element in the lives of the people and no one, except those
practitioners of the meanest profession of corruption who make a shameless parasitic living
on other man's hard earned money, can, to any stretch of imagination, honestly say he/she
is not a victim of corruption. Fighting against corruption has become a 'Yug Dharma'. For
annihilating this evil, there is nothing wrong in metamorphosing (and the natural
transformation also)into a political outfit and devise strategies. Of course, this is going to be
long journey. It is a going to be war. Like our soldiers in the border who sacrifice their today
in the inhospitable and unlivable places for our safe tomorrow, the aims and goals of the
new outfit should not only be to strike the lion masked men of corruption in their own dens of
power but also to work to bring the country's image back from the brinkmanship of likely
being viewed by the international community as a nation where corruption is held as virtue
for success and that shamelessness in doing corruption is slowly becoming a national
character of India.
Instead of taking this course (because it was apparent that with huge
price rise and because of the long delay and infighting between last
year's success and this year's activities, Team Anna's movement was
losing momentum) Team Anna should have started an information network
on Facebook/Twitter. People should have been asked to report where
they saw underhand dealings. Then Team Anna should have created small
groups from among its members that would go to those venues and
started protests and demonstrations against the bribes/corrupt
dealings. That would have been a viable and "visible" method of
protest which would have added to Team Anna's credentials. This
exercise of centralized, bulk protests with generalized demands and
demonstrations amidst dwindling media coverage and popular presence
culminating in an abandoned fast, has really eroded Team Anna's
credibility.
Team Anna have been avoiding some of the questions placed before them by the society by cliaming that they are just a anti-corruption movement. Now as they are going to be organized as a political entity it is time they put forth thier views on these issues. Most important among them is the stand of Team Anna on the issue of reservation and their idea of "India" or "Indian" and role of Dalits and Minorites in this formulation. As a political entity if they want to make a claim to honesty and transperancy it is imperartive for Team Anna to put forth their views regarding these aspects.
India needs a mass cultural revolution to get away from the mass apathy towards a corruption free just society that feeds on its own ethical hardworking innovative culture. Today it is strangled by its own people and the growth is limited and curtailed by its own people. If this is the case we need ask the question what is in our culture that lead us to this and what is in our culture that lets us to put up with it.
This is the right time for people of India to awake and fight against corruption. The movement led by team Anna will be a big success if we all join it and support the leaders. We have to teach a lesson to the corrupt Govt. I request all Indians to support team Anna to fight against corruption and make India a real democracy and not only on page.
The country's need of the hour is to bring in a new political system
with people of unquestionable integrity and honesty to govern the
Nation. The present rotten and corrupt political parties, full of
self-seeking gutter rats in entirety should be thrown into the Bay of
Bengal and in 2014, India should start with a clean slate.India is a
failed State now. We don't hear or see any good news in any field
about our country. The people are fed up with the prevailing
disgusting moth-eaten system that is leading the country nowhere but
to the abyss. Only a bloodless revolution in 2014 to free the country
for the second time, this time from the corrupt politicians within
could save the country. In that respect, Anna Hazare's move should be
welcomed. But he should screen every one to ensure that only persons
with high integrity and honesty free from any self-centered ambitions
are allowed in his movement to bring in the desired objective.
Our country needs another front apart from the present two. After
hearing statements from Mr. Kejriwal, i can't wait to use my franchise
in 2014 elections.
I am one among those who wish that some good people enter politics and make
some thing better , but i dont think that the people in our country have yet
developed the kind of readiness to vote for a good candidate ,instead they keep
voting based on caste , creed, money , what not all bad politics prevail in voting
behaviour. What happened to Loksatta in Andhra ? They are few among the best
but they will never come to power or atleast some one would ensure that they
dont, the people always keep voting for corrupt ... see the result of YSR party's
thumping victory in the last bye elections and the money they spent. The change
should come in the people first and then the politics would automatically change.
Main problem faced by Team Anna is overexitment shown by Arvind Kejrival , Kiran Bedi and Prashanth Bhushan. After seeing the support from the public during last year , for a Strong Lokpal ,they thought , it is the licence to do/say anything against politicians . Language of above team Anna memebrs were very bad , due to which even strong supporters kept away this time. Also their demands went far away from single point agenda of a strong Lokpal . Even a layman know their demand of special enquiry about 14 ministers, and other demands will not work out practically . Had they concentrated on Lokpal issue alone , led mainly by persons like Mr Anna and Mr Hegde, it would have been a successfull story . Instead , Arvind Kejrival and Kiren Bedi spoiled , the party . I am surprised about the common sence and knowledge of an IPS women and an IRS man . Is this the quality of our so called high profile civil servents ? Then why should blame uneducated politicians?
Jai Hind..Jai Anna ji..
i think this is a great move done by congress, it makes to forget about our money 2g scam think people if anna wants to fight against corruption why dont he fast until death or may he create a force againt him but what is the need to create a party think people
only politicians are not corrupt, every individual is indulge in it.
how can you think to weed out corruption???????
corruption has became a vital part of every individual.
if we go to any government interview, people ask the only first thing -
"do you have any source".
i don't think that these type of campaign could do any thing in
changing
this system.
corruption has became as important as water.we can't live without it.
Anna should try to form an altogether different party. This party should be qualitatively different from the existing parties like the Congress and the BJP. Its objective should not be to capture power for itself. Rather it should endeavour to divulge power from national and state capitals to the villages. People should be empowered and not politicians and bureaucrats. If people are empowered, corruption can be easily tackled. when power is concentrated in a few hands, corruption begins to raise its ugly head.
Sir, we are with you. Sir, the time has come the INDIA to get its
positon as Golden Bird again. Go,Sir go.You may have a very small
party, but thats only our urge, that each of the MP member of Team Anna
should not have even a single criminal case against and should be very
transperant in monetary holdings,in IT returns.Sir, people may think
and say many things wrongs against you,but dont look back listen to
them,. We need a revolution, and after 16months of your struggle,i also
very well understood there is no other alternative than this.
we need revolution, development, equality. We are not in independent
india.Sir,we are in that country where our fate is decided after our
ministers takes their shares into the swiss bank balance.
we want that team anna wins election, and passes lokpal bill, bring
back black money from swiss banks.
we are not in a democratic country,we are in corrupt country.Your team
is the only beacon to our hope for democracy, economic solvency.
jai hind.bharat mata ki jai
Now Team Anna et al. should start preparing for the grand elections at war-footing level. Highly diligent and honest people should be selected at all levels of taluka, district, tehsil, state, and central administration so that final 543 members will make their own stand without any coalition in 2014.
They must win by high majority and come to power in the centre. The very first law they should make is to pass the strictest Lokpal and bring the absonding desh-drohis to justice.
Then make strict laws one by one in every ministry and root-out the corruption and bad spirits from their foundations once forever. Make toughest laws for bringing money stashed abroad and first get the culprits pay all that they have looted, seize their movable and immovable properties; and then hang them without mercy.
We all with utmost honesty and strictest laws will transform this country in ONE year, that's my vision.
Team Anna deserves credit for at least highlighting rampant corruption everywhere with no signs of abating. Resorting to frequent fasts by its members though was not necessary. They seem to have lost focus and appear to be groping in the dark. Their consistent objective should have been to dislodge the corrupt dispensation ruling us by uniting different groups with similar objectives. A word of caution though. They should not expect a totally corruption-free regime ever. Who is 100% honest today? Replacing this dispensation with a considerably less corrupt one should suffice. Even Gandhi could not install a totally honest Govt. Instead of making yet another party - far too many already existing - they should align with BJP. Otherwise, in this country divided on caste, community, region and language lines, they will, regrettably, face humiliation like they did today.
As a first step, Members of Team Anna should go to local RTO, Income-Tax and RDO/Collector's offices and learn first hand how the system works and help the citizens in filing forms for speedy response from concerned bureaucrats. This will enhance citizens confidence in Anna's political movement and also will help Anna' Team understand the political nixes between the politicians and the bureaucrats.
Shame Shame !!! Anna Hazare should not have ended his indefinate fast !! This shows the weakness of Anna and his team....
Now you guys will say, Govt was not listening to demands of Anna Hazare, he would have been dead hungry, I ask you then "Did Anna and team not know of what an indefinate fast is" ?
We were there at his back ~.. by breaking the fast he has lost my confidence atleast...
Indefinate fast woh tha jo Bhagat Singh and his comrades kept in jail...
don't feel saina you have to prepare plan for the to get bronze medal.all the best. i hope you you will get medal deffinately.
This move will put lot of fear beneath the corrupt and powerful politicians -- now these politicians along with corrupted sections of corporate media will well nigh try to curb the movement to save their own selves. Hope media-houses like The Hindu will give continuous and insightful coverage on 'Team Anna' so that the battle against corruption can be won successfully by keeping all sorts of vested interests(within and outside Team Anna) at check.
Happy but depressed to see this decision. Practically, making a political party is a good decision but on the other hand it more like a filmy drama where team Anna a build concrete platform to win election playing with people emotions. Political party was always on the cards. Sad to see that however let me congratulate at least someone is talking sense. Only time will tell the truth.
Every honest Indian is with you!
Best thing for the country will be for Congress to weed out the numbered corrupt Ministers
from the cabinet and eliminate other MPs with criminal background and then take Team
Anna and Team into Congress and they can rule for another 50 years with Rahul and
Priyanka as PM s. as BJP has time only to fight within themselves.
Turn out the pages of history and see, Expecting right things with wrong
persons is always a wrong decision.
If we can not correct anything then only way to replace it.
We welcome the decision of Anna Ji.
Corruption free persons should come in politics for the sake of the
country....
When it looks, walks and quacks like a duck, it is a duck! I am referring to Anna's tactical flip and political googly to enter politics. I mean, he began so boldly using all his disruptive tactics, for what? To be an average petty politician? People of India must understand that when people talk of much change, much remains the same including India's political realms as well. Change is hard but is always constant. His bluster alongside goon Ramdev and other luminaries made it look as if, India will change for better. Now, we all get it as to what this theatrics was all about. Anyone can aspire to be a politician, including Anna, but has to put up with corrupting influence from other people who he cannot control. The sad truth is if he becomes another politician he stands to lose all his hard earned credibility. Change, if it ever happens in Indian politics will be incremental and Anna and his cohorts must ensure by building expectation so steep to be followed by a deep fall.
By looking at the plight of present politics and the political failures of many awakened ones, the people with good intentions need not hesitate to take plunge into politics. Because, it is the verdict of the people that rules always. If the people have unwavered motivation towards ending the deep rooted corruption and give their whole hearted support, it is cake walk for people like Anna Haazare to win the elections.
Our objective is very clear, The system has to be changed and made devoid of corruption. So,as we are changing this system, there is no need to consider the historical failures that this system had offered to good people. Once changed, Our system will take the form that it always wins the good & motivated people but not the selfish crooks like the present politicians.
We Indians are good people with rich traditions and values, we have the discretion to choose the good. We are now the realized for not repeating the same mistake again and again. So, Anna..We are for you.
“Now, Team Anna is ready to enter the battlefield of politics. Now, Team Anna is ready to enter the battleground to take on government. Anna has said that he will not dilute his beliefs. The political alternative that will come up will not compromise on corruption. This fight is not for changing power but changing system,” it said. The first two sentences expressed as a wish list could be done by any one of the country who has money for depositing the electoral contest. The next three sentences stated as mission objectives and statements appear as tasks set aside to achieve. Those require behavioral and attitude changes of the stake holders. It could possibly take anything between one to ten decades given the current complexities.
Another difficult task ahead for team Anna.
We welcome the move.
India needs total revolution to end the corruption. Our mind set has to
be changed. Team anna and the people if required should come out on
streets to end the corruption. We have intelligent and honest people,
who can guide as to how to end the corruption.
As an Indian, I wish team Anna reach parliament. But the road to enter in politics.I am concerned the team lacks political knowledge. The majority of the people who go to polling booth neither know Anna nor do see IAC website or use twitter.
Politics requires huge money. Does this team have investment?
Another issue is succession. The team should not always rely on the charisma of Annaji. The next rung should become charimatic as well.
contd...
3. Right to Recall (If it works out)
4. Right to reject - This is 100% possible. If the votes polled against "None of the above" is 1/3 of the total votes all the contestants should be barred to contest elections for 10 years. If they belong to a party, that party should be banned for 10 years from that particular constituency only for fielding such a bad candidate. After all the party wasted public money by fielding such a candidate. This will be similar to forfeiting the security deposit
5. Make the civil servants report only to parliament or assembly and not to ministers. This will shield civil servants from the undue pressure of individual ministers and at the same time answerable.
It is not just lokpal we need. We need all the above reforms after thorough analysis on implementation
This is a great decision, Anna! I support your decision fully. Here is the list challenges we need to accomplish once in power
1. Create very very very very very strong Lokpal
2. Public financing of elections - Why should some one spend crores of his personal money to win elections? Are they saying they are doing it for the love of the country? Who can believe that? Every one knows for sure that it is an investment for them to multiply that money once elected. Corruption is encouraged implicitly and by law even before some one is elected. Cure is public funding of elections. 2a. Collect election fund tax
2b. EC will give certain number of wall posters to each candidate which will be displayed only on bill boards at street junctions
2c. Propaganda air time, TV time and news paper advertisement will be paid by the EC with equally for all candidates.
2d. EC will arrange for town hall meetings between candidates and public
The sudden withdrawl from Ansan is a correct decision. You cannot die and let the andolan go in deep freeze. The Government in power donot want to listen to people's voices. So the alternative is cancell the Ansan and go to politics and get these corrupt off the ground.
Parliament is supreme. Let us change the color of this Parliament from Dark to Grey and then to pure white. God bless Anna and his team.
Annaji, your effort will not go in waste. You and your team have taken great pain to awaken India.Unfortunately India have corrupt politician and bad, rubbish bureaucratic people who stop any good to happen in the country. In the time to come, their children will suffer from the policies these politician/bureaucrat have created. They will suffer for not taking any action for removal of corruption. We all pray this movement of anti corruption be continued so that it picks up momentum and clean up India.Indian should be proud of clean society.Let all Indian be part of this cleaning process.
The team Anna has been outwitted by the mighty government and the
political class. The purity and essence of the agitation will be lost if
they launch a political outfit. The common man can only hope against hope
for a better tomorrow.
The circumstances that leads to Team Anna’s decision to call off the ongoing indefinite fast, without achieving any progress in its longstanding demand for creation of a strong Lokpal and for the added demand for probe into the allegations of corruption against 15 Central ministers, is really unfortunate, in a national outlook. The decision is reportedly on account of the Governments callous attitude of completely ignoring the civil society’s protest against corruption. The political parties, in general, have been trying long to scuttle passage of a Lokpal Bill. Not responding to people’s voice is unbecoming of any true democracy. On July 30, 2011, I had the opportunity to write in The Hindu that “the Gandhian (Hazare) should remember that Gandhiji fought the British while he is engaged differently”. I had also added that Mr.Hazare is the nation’s only hope and the people value his life.
The uncertainty as to the Team’s next step is clear in its pronouncements. Entering the Indian politics actively in its present corrupt and criminalised form does not look appealing. The most advisable option for the civil society, lead by Hazare, seems to bring electoral reforms at a higher priority than Lokpal. There shall be a two pronged strategy, one by forming a wide network of volunteers to educate the voters and the other by continuing with mass agitations across the Constituencies. Going for new political configurations and trying to align with ‘like-minded parties’ etc. would no doubt end in chaos.
If they set the political party after some time it will becomes like old political parties which we are seeing now.How he makes alternative party different from existing one?
Annaji! Attempt to become a viable and strong opposition group
consisting of independent members of LS who should fight under one
banner in the elections. Just contest in 270 LS seats to show your
intention to the people. At times miracle do happen. I pledge my in the
event of above happening.
The cat is finally out of the bag! Though right from the beginning the movement was groping in the dark, it was, however, very clear that a few of Anna's associates who were closely spear heading the movement had political ascendancy for themselves as their first agenda. It is a pity that Anna Hazare who started his campaign against corruption in right earnest and was aiming to strike honours including the Nobel has chosen wrong lieutenants ans hence has to now retire into the oblivion unsung as a sacrificial lamb in his power hungry colleagues' altar of avariciousness.
No doubt the entire efforts made by Anna and the precious time spent by people who trusting that the Anna movement would help them weed out corruption from the land have gone waste and the followers stand thoroughly disappointed today with the political aspiration of the movement raising its dirty head at the most inappropriate time. The cat is finally out of the bag! Though right from the beginning Team Anna was groping in the dark and were consistently inconsistent in all their moves, it was, however, very clear that a few members of Anna's core committee who were closely spear heading the movement had only political ascendancy for themselves as their first agenda. It is a pity that Anna Hazare who started his campaign against corruption in right earnest and was aiming to strike honours including the Nobel has now retired into the oblivion unsung and has become a sacrificial lamb in the altar of his power hungry colleagues.
No doubt the entire efforts made by Anna and the precious time spent by thousands of people who trusted that the Anna movement would help them weed out corruption from the land have gone waste and they now stand thoroughly disappointed with the dirty political aspiration of the movement raising its ugly head shamelessly.
Anna has proved beyond doubt that he can never be the Saviour of the nation.
"Team Anna member Kiran Bedi defended the move, saying Mr. Hazare’s call
is that he will help identify good and ethical people so that they could
make it to politics." Now, how is he going to do that for each state and
constituency of India? Even, if he does it, is it not concentration of
power at a single point? Is that democracy? If he is to be advised by a
group, who decides who will be in that group?
What are these people trying to 'say'?
I am with you
Poor Team Anna has been overpowered by the political class. They had
no answer or the idea to tackle the political party. just taking the
cause in the Gandhian way that too by mere fasting things cannot be
achieved. They should have been more practical once BJP & the media
looked the other way Team Anna lost the steam. Hope they had learned a
lesson. the movement dies on its own. The pressure that has been
generated was diluted by Team Anna themselves most likely there would
have been a back door settlement.
Team Anna has ditched the Nation.
Finally team Anna has found out an appropriate means to end the plaguing ills.Yes as the proverbial saying goes only"Diamond cuts Diamond".The need of the hour is radical change in the functioning of administrative machinery which has gone dysfunctional long back.To achieve that only a New Constitution or sweeping amendments to the existing one will serve. We the people of India should realize that the time now is the most appropriate moment to create a history by backing this team that has finally shot itself into the right orbit. This team should convert into a political party and take its objective to the grass roots citizens on a war footing.Young India has already showed its readiness to support which was palpable when this Team Anna called on for a nation wide mass protests last year. There is no doubt that this team if curves out a well strategised master plan to contest in the electoral arena would see its logical end to cut off the roots of corruption. Jai Hind!
Our political class aided by beauraucracy and media has become so powerful that nobody can dare to oppose them and bring them to task. Acommon man is trapped in a system where the powers that be ( read politicians , babus, judges , media and well connected businesspersons) corner most of the resources that a country can provide , leaving aam aadmi with all the miseries like power cuts, poor roads, high fuel prices, unmindful taxes etc.
Although the decision by Team Anna to join politics appears to be a non-winner, there are very few who believe that there is any other way to fight the mighty cartel of corruption. The polity needs to be cleaned from within .
Anna and his team looking for an alternative to fight corruption, but
the alternative has always been there as the political parties and the
ministers have proposed earlier. Put your team and supporters together
to make a political party. The party of Anna and his team would not
fight corruption on the streets, where it is not being able to move a
single stone rather than addressing the media and the people that how
corrupt our system is and we the people need to eradicate corruption
by all legitimate means possible. If Anna makes a political party and
wins the election his reverie of corruption free India will be much
closer to accomplish. When Anna's party will come to rule his
ministers would be able fight corruption in the legislature, who for
the time being fighting in the streets. Election campaign as we
presume would not be so difficult for Anna's political party as they
are campaigning for the right cause for quiet a bit of time now as far
as funding of elections are concerned.
Most of the people vote on basis of caste, religion or party
affiliation.Corruption is not an issue in any election. We have to change
mindset of our voters first. Then only we can hope a corrupt free Govt
and administration which is need of time.
Go Ahead, Team Anna...
I am with u...
