The Delhi Police Special Cell on Tuesday filed its charge sheet, accusing journalist Syed Mohammed Ahmad Kazmi of involvement in the criminal conspiracy leading to the terror attack on Israeli diplomat, Tal Yehoshua Koren, on February 13, which left her seriously injured.
The chargesheet, filed before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vinod Yadav, names Kazmi as the main accused, while listing four Iranians among the suspects against whom the probe is continuing. Kazmi was arrested on March 6.
The chargesheet alleges offences under Section 16 (committing terrorist acts) and Section 18 (conspiracy) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Section 3 of the Explosive Substances Act, besides Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (causing injury) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.
The four Iranian nationals are Houshang Afshar Irani, Masoud Sedaghatzadeh, Syed Ali Mahdiansadr and Mohammed Reza Abolghasemi. The chargesheet accused Houshang of visiting India in April, 2011, and leaving the country in May. He allegedly returned on January 29, this year, after which he left for Malaysia on February 13, hours after the blast.
According to the police, Kazmi disclosed that in May last year, he received a call from Mahdiansadr asking him to collect a scooterette from Houshang, who was then staying at a hotel in the Capital. He then received a call from Houshang, at whose instance Kazmi went to Paharganj in an auto-rickshaw the next day, where they had a meeting in a hotel room. Kazmi allegedly left his mobile phone there to cover his trail.
Further, Kazmi purportedly disclosed that another person, apparently an Iranian national, was present in the hotel room. However, Houshang didn’t introduce that person to Mr. Kazmi during his 90-minute stay there. During the conversation, Houshang also asked the journalist regarding the Israeli Embassy’s location, to which Kazmi allegedly informed that it was on Aurangzeb Road.
Some of the suspects conducted reconnaissance of the Israeli Embassy in Kazmi’s car on May 28 last year, the police said. Kazmi also allegedly booked an air ticket for Mahdiansadr from Delhi to Muscat, Oman, on May 31.

Could we expect an Editorial from The Hindu condemning the Iranians for this outrage, or
would this be another one of those no win cases for Israel, wherein is still their fault even
when they are the victims, as according to the Hindu and its correspondents like Atul Aneja (a
well known Israel hater) , there can only be one partying the right, and that can never ever be
Israel. The more you dehumanise them each time and make them appear like blood thirsty
demons, the easier it keeps getting to write even more outrageous untruths about them
totally unchallenged. I know this will not get published for sure.
By God's grace the victims did not die but that does not mean the
criminals should not be booked under 302(Murder). Their intention was to
kill, so they should be punished accordingly.
