Thanks to import obstructions by local businessmen, there is an acute shortage of chickens in Manipur and the price has shot up to Rs. 200 a kg in some shops.
Many meat shops which had mushroomed on the roadsides and at market places closed down about two months ago.Till recently, traders could fetch live chicken from Assam, where the product is very cheap, and sell meat at Rs. 120 a kg. However of late local businessmen dealing in chickens have obstructed imports from Assam and other States.

Is it good to make price high? i want to call them gunda, rowdy, whatever it is those who obstruct to import . they says that it is to save the local farmers but in my opinion it is wrong it is to control the price by a few people . why should we all suffer for a few? a kg of chicken cost 200 before it cost 120 see the difference , can we bear this? no one (local farmer)is dying here . why should we bear this kind of act that we dont deserve it.
