With few days left for filing his nomination papers as the UPA's presidential candidate, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday presided over possibly his last Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) meet on foodgrains management.

Mr. Mukherjee, who heads two dozen odd GoMs and EGoMs, spoke about the record grains production and procurement achieved this year, according official sources.

The Minister also thanked the EGoM for cooperating in taking various key decisions such as clearing the Food Security Bill, lifting the ban on wheat and rice exports and the creation of additional storage capacity.

Food Minister K.V. Thomas, Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, Defence Minister A.K. Antony, Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh and Commerce Minister Anand Sharma were among others present.
