The Air India management on Wednesday moved the Delhi High Court seeking an order restraining the pilots from going on strike.
Filing an injunction suit before Justice Reva Khetrapal, counsel Lalit Bhasin sought an order to restrain Air India pilots from going on strike.
Justice Khetrapal will hear the matter at 2.15 on Wednesday.
A section of Air India pilots owing allegiance to Indian Pilots Guild went on strike yesterday following failure of talks with the Air India management.
The IPG pilots have been agitating over the rescheduling of Boeing 787 Dreamliner training and matters relating to their career progression.
Disappointed over the management’s attitude, some 100 odd pilots had joined the IPG agitation by going on sick leave in the midst of their talks with the management of Air India which had led to cancellation of flights.
Four Air India international flights from New Delhi and Mumbai were cancelled this morning.
On May 5, a section of pilots had reported sick, apparently to protest the move, resulting in cancellation of one international flight and delaying another two.

I agree with "Saahil". Fix the management and do not shutdown the airlines. We do not need IAS guys to manage Air India as they always corrupt. We need guys from IIM to manage Air India OR Lallu is better option as he fixed Indian Railways.
It is a real time for the Government of India to take a firm stand on these Air India
Pilots. They should follow US lead when President Reagan fired all Air traffic
Controllers in 1982-83
You can not run a Air line with the corrupt Air India Union.
FIRE ALL AT ONCE ON STRIKE.
I have had very good experiences with Air India contrary to popular belief that Air India's
services are the worst. I missed my flight due to bad weather. Air India gave me tickets
for the next day and some discount for a hotel stay. Any american airlines would simply
ignore you for sure. The air-hostesses - what do you care about their age? You get the
drinks and food you need. Try asking for extra drink in Continental or United, you will
get the most pathetic answer. The strike is definitely illegal. The union should be
dissolved and the enterprise should be split into multiple companies. State may have an
investment but should not have an obligation. Take measures to remove any clauses
that allow non-sense agreements such as bail-outs. The enterprise should sustain by
itself and not become another IDPL. If they don't act soon enough, there will be more
strikes and disruptions to the services. Shutting down the airlines is not a solution as it
removes competition.
shutdown international operations as a first measure.
Air India is the airline that offers worst services to its passengers. The staff is rude, they sometimes command the passengers. Who is benefitting from this airlines? The Air India staff? Why should the public money be spent on such airlines which is of no use to its passengers? Shut it down and let the staff start an airlines that has best employee benifits.
We do not need such an airline which burdens the national budget year on year. Running airline is not for charity. Emirates Airline started with an investment of US$ 60 million now values US$ 11 billion, without any infusion of funds during the last 20 years of its existence. It does mean running an airline with proper management generates wealth. Here, how much money have our national budget infused during the last 20 years and what's its NAV as oppossed to what was 20 years ago after infussing all these money?
Air India employees, including its management controlling operation & planning, are a bunch of unscrupulous lots, which should not be allowed to plunder any more national wealth. Allow the airline a natural death - period.... Remember, a couple of years ago, a pilot flew in his aircraft to London refused to fly back saying his flying hours are over. Lucky that he did not switch off the aircraft mid-air when flying hour exceeded (because his life is at stake then)!
The public and air travel passengers would probably be sympathetic towards the pilots had some sort of awareness being created well in advance by them through media about their intending to strike but their resorting to a flash strike to bring notice to their cause is just plain unethical as they have no right to cause unneccessary hardship to 1000s of innocent passengers whose travel plans all went for a toss and most were left stranded in airports or had to return home. Especially think of the elderly and children who got stranded and the amount of hardship they are going through. By the way this is not the first time they are doing this. On numerous occassions they will resort to strikes and innocent passengers will get stranded! Its due to this reason lots of people avoid air india as they will resort to sudden flash strikes!
In spite of the fact that pilots are paid handsomely, the demands of the pilots running our Air India are not seen to have been solved. If the government solves one problem, another one is raised by our pilots resulting in another new strike. Passengers are harassed and government incurs losses and subsequently tax payers' burden has increased. The pilots are not showing any responsibility to the passengers and to the government itself who are paying them high salary.
Government is to hire pilots from abroad if the present adamant and destructive attitude on the part of the pilots continues.......
Government should not give in to this black mail. This is the only
long term solution. Recollect American President during 1981 sacked
about 11,000 striking air traffic controllers even at the risk of
shutting down air traffic through out US and broke the back of
arrogant union. The present Air India strike also call for a similar
firm handling, that is if UPA 2 has the political will and commitment
to govern!
Shut down Air India. We have tried for many years to repair. It is proved beyond repair. It is a tax payer's money guzzler. Finally it is the fare paying passenger who is suffering. Is any one bothering to take care of them? There is no need for govt to run this white elephant for the benefit of Air India employees. Someone else need the money badly for food, education and health. No one is bigger than the organization. Let pilots start their own airline with best employee benefits using their own money.
