Newly elected Congress member Abhishek Manu Singhvi on Friday sought the permission of the Rajya Sabha not to attend its sittings for the ongoing second half of the budget session. This is his second term in the House.
Citing “illness and family commitment,” Mr. Singhvi, who was named in a purported CD controversy last month, has not been attending the House. He sought leave from April 24 to May 22, which was granted by the House. The session ends on May 22. A day before the session reconvened, Mr. Singhvi resigned as Chairman of a Parliamentary Committee and party spokesperson.
