The Supreme Court on Friday permitted Kerala and Tamil Nadu to get copies of the report submitted by the monitoring committee on the Mullaperiyar dam row.
A five-judge Constitution Bench of the court headed by Justice D.K. Jain, while permitting the two warring States to get copies of the report in a sealed cover, posted the matter for further hearing to July 23.
Senior counsel Harish Salve and Rajiv Dhawan, both appearing for Kerala, told the Bench that the State was willing to evolve a “political consensus” on the vexed dam issued.
“Both States should sit together and evolve a political consensus on the issue,” the counsel told the Bench, which responded by saying, “We can only wish and hope.”
The Empowered Committee had submitted its report to the apex court in a sealed cover on April 25.

Kerala will be quick to dismiss the report or even the judgement if it
is going to be against them. As of now it looks that way. Who is going
to control them. Tamilnadu is used as a power production factory by the
nearby states. They never fail to get their share of power even we under
the darkness at nights. We continue to have 10 hrs of power cut when our
land is producing power for nearby states!!!. Come on they are not
Pakistan.
SIR,
The TN govt is arrogant in all its deals of water sharing either with Kerala/Karnataka.
.I register my strong protest against the people of TN.The reasons are viz.
i. Why can't you develope your own water saving systems.. construction of dams, reservoirs, lakes, check dams, rain harvesting methods so that we need not depend on other states.
ii. Identify catchment areas basin wise and plan to go for lift irrigation schemes, drinking water projects for our people of TN.
iii. Why you are dependent on kerala/Karnataka.Develope your own ways and why you people are not planning.I pity on you.
iv.If Kerala wants to improve the storage capacity by constructing new dams and TN is a major hindrence for growth. This is also true in the case of karnataka. What right you have to prevent developement.Neither you are developing nor allowing others to develope. Shame to TN.
v.All along the stream courses go in for deep bore wells for exploitation of ground water and utilise.
