Lok Sabha was adjourned till noon on Monday as the members of Telangana Rashtriya Samiti (TRS) raised slogans for Telangana statehood, a demand which was endorsed by Leader of the Opposition Sushma Swaraj who asked the government to list the steps taken by it on the issue.
As soon as the House met for the day, TRS members Vijayashanti and K Chandrasekhara Rao trooped to the well, waving banners demanding introduction of a bill to carve out a separate Telangana state from Andhra Pradesh.
The fresh protest came in the wake of suspension of eight Congress members from the region last week for disrupting the proceedings by raising the Telangana issue. TRS members were not present in the House then.
Some BJP members from Bihar boycotted the Question Hour over the issue of setting up of a Central University in East Champaran district in the state.
Speaker Meira Kumar adjourned the House soon after Ms. Swaraj sought a brief adjournment of the Question Hour to allow Leader of the House Pranab Mukherjee to make a statement on the issue of Telangana since the December 2009 assurance on formation of a separate state.
Earlier, the Speaker continued with the Question Hour as the TRS members squatted in the Well and raised slogans.
As this continued for a while, Ms. Swaraj said she was very pained at the sight of members protesting in the Well despite questions being answered and pointed out that eight members have already been suspended on the issue.

Dear Friend,
Without Nationalism how we got independence? It is the sacrifices of leaders like Bhagat Singh, Chandrasekhar Azad, Nethaji which prompted British to leave the country. Unfortunately the then leaders like Nehru, Zinna, Gandhi etc by dividing India into India and Pakistan got independence. The culture of selfish leaders to earn has divided the country and stopping development of the country. Congress promised Telangana and not taking any steps. BJP in favour of small states does not initiate steps while in power. Andhra leaders like Kavuri, Lagadapati, TSR, YSR, Babu who became multibillionaires dont support division of state on the grounds of Unity for earning more, though no single person opposed the manifestos of Congress and TDP. Lakhs of Crores are in Swiss banks and we give huge importance to Rs.1 Lac bribe of Bangaru Laxman. If no nationalism is our culture then why huge no. of people are supporting Anna team. Selfishness of Leaders is the problem
The aberration of the main political party in a democracy having to be necessarily led by members of a particular family seems to be doing no good to that party. These are difficult times for the country and also the party that leads its government and that is reason enough for members of the Congress party to realise that the party and the government it leads needs a well-experienced and competent leader who has risen from among the common people of this country and who knows at first-hand their problems. Well, that may never happen!
Dividing the state for sake of development is an old practice of politicos. when seen from the aspect of development it is good practice to make a small state through which the help from administration and government can reach to the people, but that requires complete determination and dedication from government officials which is hard to find. partition should not be done for personal gains but for public gains.
@deepti Rightly said..I don't know what kind of development will be achieved after bifurcation. The same politicians will be there whose agenda was/is/will be "looting"..then from where this development will be achieved.
Some end has to be made to this - Due to uncertainity - The young generation is facing a uphill task..
Keep united, so that our leaders can loot a lot of people at a time. Keep devided, then their loot amount will be reduced.
UPA governament inefficient to decide the telangana issue they are
least bothered about telangana people.now time has come to teach a
lesson to congress govt. this is long time pending issue, the UPA govt
should declare telangana state with out delay, and they should not make
poll/ political issue. has all the telangana people want seperate
telangana state at any cost.
Sushma Swaraj has no locus standi to declare support for the division of Andhra Pradesh. If she thinks she is correct, why doesn't she support creation of Vidarbha ?
Divide and divide, then divide again....We'll end up as we were before the invasion..... 10,000 states, no nationalism... that is perhaps our culture, and we deserve it
After all the date cheating of festivls/sessions a/elections etc when the whole nation is willing to give telangana .It is only the high command under influential andhra leaders is sacrificing Telangana. people of telangana will teach UPA a lesson. In fact congress is encouraging seperatist/communal/razakar forces in the name of Rayala Telangana
