India, which along with Russia, China, Germany and Brazil (South Africa was bulldozed into aligning with the West) had abstained from voting for air strikes in the United Nation Security Council, now reconciled itself to the killing of former Libyan strongman Muammar Qadhafi.
The Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi said the strife in Libya and the suffering of its people had been a matter of concern and it hoped that peace and stability would soon return to Libya. “At this juncture, India reiterates its readiness to extend all possible assistance to the people of Libya in their political transition and rebuilding of the country,’’ it added.
Diplomats pointed out India’s association with Libya had less to do with oil and more with sending its people for capacity building such as in teaching and working on oil rigs.
Given India’s distaste for imposed external solutions and the fact that it was among the large number of nations which dissented with the military support by the west, diplomats said they expected France, the U.K., Italy and the U.S. to reap initial harvest of oil contracts. Officially India did not comment on his killing.
Former diplomat K P Fabian felt Col. Qadhafi’s killing would smoothen the path for the NTC as it would not have to bother about one person who could have rallied tribes left out of the power sharing arrangement in Tripoli. “The removal of another dictator shows that the Arab spring is getting stronger and stronger,’’ he observed.

Comments:
Basically, our government has "head-in-the-sand" attitude towards foreign affairs.
Imperial war of aggression is being called freedom and democracy. What hypocrisy! The resources of these countries are being usurped by imperialists. But the USA and its thugs will get their just deserts in Afghanistan . It will soon be the USAs second Vietnam.
It is all about oil and assets and who gets what? For forty years nobody cared and now suddenly they wanted the head of the dictator!!! The west has frozen about 40-50 billion Libiyan assets and they loot it on the pretext of rebuilding Libiya. Then the oil contracts. This is a game going on for decades.
So the UN acted against Libya due to Gaddhafi being a dictator, now under the same rules the UN is obliged to act against Assad of Syria, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and any other despot in the world. The UN should also hold the Pak military and ISI accountable for running a terrorist factory on its soil that affects its neighbours and the world at large. The final moments of the capture of Gaddhafi were very brutal and cruel, he should have been imprisoned and maybe tried in an international court of law.
It is not India that has its head buried in the sand but NATO who have done what they did for short term gains in the name of Energy Security for Europe and the West. The people of Libya have got themselves rid of a dictator; also may see a dime of the US$ 60 billion of their legitimate wealth in US and Europe - the bulk of which will surely be (mis) appropriated by NATO to meet their bloated war bills. Swiss banks, tax havens and world bank may be back in business soon. Forty two years is a long time to suffer. But NATO had dealt a trick card to Libyans and rest of the world with their double talk and dubious action.
Atyrnnical behavior of the so called developed and civilized world who believe it's their right to rape other nations of their national wealth in the name of fostering democracy. After all they did not seem any where nearly as concerned with the genocides in RWANDA or civil war in other poor African nations.
This attack on Libya was all about oil and not about democracy or freedom. This started many years agaon when US- Saudi relationship was was gradually weakening and also the slowing of US economy & the graudual emergence of China and other Asian countries and Russia having more cars and US was its largest customer 20 years ago, but with slowing of US economy & the graudual emergence of China and other Asian countries and Russia's economy growing, Saudi is starting to supply more oil to those countries and so US wanted to have another reliable supply of oil and so they attacked Iraq and now Libya. Also, Gaddafi was trying to change the oil currency from Dollars to to Euros just like Saddam did and US wanted to stop this.US will not waste even a single dime on any war unless it benefits them financially. The western media is covering up the truth and instead lying saying that this war is about democracy and freedom.
