Despite the distraction posed by the South China Sea episode, India and China are well on course to putting in place a major confidence building measure on the border issue — a new mechanism to handle perception of incursions on certain pockets of the Line of Actual Control (LAC) — by year-end.
In recent exchanges, the two countries have broadened their contacts to cover energy and water at the first-ever economic dialogue and are expected to announce plans for greater military interaction early next year. The next round of boundary talks is also likely to be held soon.

We must be very cautious about China. They have the most ruthless army.The way they are building along the LOC is indeed dangerous. India should enhance its modern weaponry, particularly unmanned type. It does not mean that diplomatic channels are to be closed.
However our experience even in diplomacy is bitter. Remember Panditji's India-China Bhai Bhai and Atalji's initiatives and its aftereffects !
It would be appropriate for both India and China to have candid discussions in sorting out all differences with trust, friendship and brotherhood and concentrate on eternal cooperation & development. There is no place for loose talk or cunning misadventures. CPM can play a great role in this regard. If things go well the whole world can be transformed for better.
The news is too skimpy to make any serious assessment or comments. Besides, only today I read elsewhere that India's is deeply concerned about China's increased interest in the Maldives. Sino-Indian relations thus largely remain an enigma for the average newspaper reader.
It is good that there will be more interaction between India and China, this will create better stability and foster growth.
India should remove its troops from Kalapani, Nepal- before accusing
China of the "perception of incursions" on its soil.
This is good news. India and China are neighbors and have had very good relations except for the 1962 hiccup. It is necessary that each should go its own way and cooperate in areas of mutual interests. Confrontation is not an option.
China's sudden closeness with Pakistan is a disturbing factor and India's apprehensions need to be squelched.That will lead the way to Hindi-Chini bhai-bhai camaraderie. If these two great countries join hands there is nothing that cannot be achieved,
But then you cannot clap with just one hand.

The resolution of India-China border issue can change the world political and economic dynamics for the benefit of a large majority of humans living on this planet. India and China owe this to the mankind.
