Army troops on Sunday foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) and pushed back a group of militants in Poonch district.

During a routine patrol, troops found that a group of militants carrying torches had entered into Indian territory in Durga post forward belt in the early hours, a senior army officer said.

Troops took positions and challenged the group, he said, adding that the militants switched off their torches and hid themselves.

The group escaped back to the Pakistani side after the militants came under fire, he said.

Security has been further strengthened along the LoC as troops are apprehending more infiltration bids in the coming days.
