The Army has hit insurgent camps inside Myanmar and destroyed their observation posts in an operation on the early hours of on Friday morning.
Sources with knowledge of the matter said that the operations were undertaken to destroy observation posts set up by National Socialist Council of Nagaland Khaplang faction few kilometres across Manipur in Boga basti inside Myanmar.
It is not clear if the troops had actually crossed the border. Long range weapons, including mortars, are believed to have been fired and the posts have been destroyed. No causalities have been reported on either side.
The observation posts were meant to alert the NSCN (K) cadre on the movement of Army, the sources said.
The operation comes days before External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is scheduled to visit Myanmar.
