Army Chief's plea on age rejected

December 31, 2011 04:31 am | Updated November 17, 2021 04:44 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The Centre on Friday rejected the statutory complaint by the Chief of Army Staff, General V.K. Singh, seeking a direction to decide his year of birth as 1951 and not as 1950 as shown in some records. Defence Ministry sources indicated that the government's decision was based on the advice of the Attorney-General. It means Gen. Singh will have to retire next year, as per the records entered earlier, and cannot serve 10 more months.
