Officers at the Eastern Railway and South Eastern Railway on Monday decided not to hold New Year Eve celebrations in homage to the Delhi gang rape victim.
PTI reports:
The Defence Ministry and the three Services have decided against organising their New Year bashes, officials said. The Army has issued advisories to all formations that they should not organise New Year parties, Army officials said.
The Navy and the Indian Air Force have also told their formations not to organise any bashes this year in view of the death of the gang rape victim.

The Indian Army, more sensitive and wiser than the Indian Congress.
Funny.. when we consider that our armed forces themselves are accused by people in Kashmir and North East of committing gang rapes there and going scot free due to the draconian AFSPA. Patriotism is not a license to blind our eyes to our own mistakes.
It is not only about New Year celebrations. It is about waking up with
your eyes wide awake after facing such an issue. All the parties should
understand that after such a massive protest, people are not going to
see this step being taken by you as positive at all. It will just prove
that you are doing something to show us that you care while its veracity
has not been proved yet by any means.
Though I sympathise with the victim, I believe our jawans should not be
penalised for it. Mainly the jawans in the border areas where they have
to maintain a 24 hour vigil and have seen their friends killed in front
of their eyes, parties such as these will help relieve their stress.
I salute Indian Army.
All the money thus saved can be channelised to provide legal aid to rape
victims
