Madhya Pradesh Parliamentary Affairs Minister Narottam Mishra on Thursday said that senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister Arjun Singh should “break his silence” on the issue of Warren Anderson being allowed to leave the nation soon after Bhopal gas tragedy.
“I think it is high time that Arjun Singh breaks his silence on this issue and let the world know what prompted the then Madhya Pradesh government to allow Anderson to leave the country,” he told reporters at a cabinet briefing.
The Minister also said that it was for the Congress to clear all doubts as to why the Union Carbide chief was allowed to leave days after the world’s biggest industrial disaster.
About Moti Singh, who was the Collector of Bhopal during the tragedy, Mr. Mishra said that he had only reacted to the judgement and nothing else.
Arjun Singh was the Chief Minister when the poisonous methyl isocyanate leaked from the Union Carbide factory in Bhopal on the night of December 2-3, 1984 killing over 15,000 people and maiming several others.
