This year’s Appan Menon Award for young journalists covering international affairs has been given to Srinivasan Ramani, senior assistant editor of the Economic and Political Weekly for his coverage of the emergence of a new constitutional republic in Nepal and India’s role in that process.

The award, which carries a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh, is presented by the Appan Menon Memorial Trust in memory of the journalist who once anchored the international news show The World This Week on NDTV. Mr. Menon had earlier worked with The Hindu and Frontline, as well as news agencies PTI and UNI, and also covered the United Nations Headquarters for Inter Press Service.
