Prakash Jha's Aarakshan , a film that ran into controversy even before its release, was cleared for screening in Andhra Pradesh.

The State Government order recommending its release was issued on Saturday afternoon after a committee of officials and others viewed the film and recommended that it could be screened after minor modification in one of the scenes.

The film, starring Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Saif Ali Khan among others, evoked protests from organisations representing the weaker sections on the ground that it hurt their sentiments.

The governments of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Andhra Pradesh had ordered suspension of the screening, pending reports on the contents. The film was scheduled for release on Friday.

After watching Aarakshan on Friday, the committee submitted a report in which it commended the theme of the film and recommended its release with a minor modification in one of the scenes.

A committee member said that they saw nothing that could be termed controversial.
