Another batch of 2,004 pilgrims leave for Amarnath

Amidst tight security, the 12th batch of 2,004 pilgrims on Tuesday left for the Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas from Jammu.

The batch, including 1,393 men, 353 women and 18 children, left in a convoy of 58 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu around 4:10 a.m., police said.

The convoy has already crossed Batote on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and is expected to reach destinations at Baltal and Pahalgam base camps by this evening, they said.

As many as 21,235 pilgrims have so far left from the Jammu base camp for the Amarnath shrine.
