Anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare, who returned to his village Ralegan Siddhi on Thursday afternoon after breaking his two-day fast in Mumbai on Wednesday, was adamant till the very end and was not happy about discontinuing the three-day fast, his doctor said.
Speaking to The Hindu in the evening, Dr. Daulat Pote stated that Mr. Hazare was still suffering from weakness owing to a viral infection and had been advised rest for at least four days. Mr. Hazare had 98.5 degrees F fever, Dr. Pote said. He stated that Mr. Hazare's condition was due to “stress, strain and exertion,” along with the unfavourable weather.
Though it was Dr. Pote, who had given the go ahead for the fast on Monday morning, he revealed that he had advised Mr. Hazare to reconsider his decision before he left for Mumbai to undertake the fast.
“His condition was not looking good on Sunday, two days before the fast was scheduled. But he is known for his adamant nature. He was determined to go ahead with it as he had promised,” Dr. Pote said.
When the condition was getting worse on Wednesday afternoon, and Mr. Hazare could not sit up for very long, he was requested to give up the fast. “Finally, after everyone, including Arvind Kejriwal, convinced him, he agreed,” Dr. Pote said.
Advised a week's rest
Dr. Pote stated that given Mr. Hazare's health, he would not have been able to travel to Delhi and continue with his ‘jail bharo andolan,' even if he had given up the fast.
“He requires a strict rest for a week at least. I have told him not to talk to anyone too,” he said. Mr. Hazare had threatened to stage a dharna in front of Congress president Sonia Gandhi's house.

India is very lucky to have annaji who is genuine and truly loves India and people of India.all Indians outside India should support him and help fighting cancerios corruption that exists and effects everybtom , dick and Harry. We need system sorted out and strong lokpal bill would have been a good step to better India and Indians. In foreign countries even animals are treated better than the poor aam adami of India. We. Want to hold our head and be proud of independent India . Do. The politicians understand what it is to hear some Indians in rurals say they were better under British rule this is very heart breaking. Annaji needs support of all who love humanity .
I am reading lot of negative comments about Anna and team Anna in last few months. Remember few mistakes by team Anna doesn't make them bad and congress/govt good. Some gentleman said, congress is serious about lokpal. No political party wants strong effective lokpal. the best way out is get a lokpal(weak or strong) and make amendments when opposition party comes in power. e.g. If BJP is supporting CBI under lokpal..when they come in power team anna/public can pressurise them to bring that amendment.
Any one calling respected Annaji as puppet, is the biggest puppet himself, be it Digvijay Singh or the people like Nitish. Its a blessing of God that we got a person like Shri Annaji to help the youngs to have better future for the country, a place with respect. Annaji has nothing to loose if Lokpal fails or pass, its the young of the people who should be taught a lesson to be honest & dedicated to their work, the work which national leaders should have taken up. Unfortunately, I don't have words to express poorest of poor quality in our so called leaders.
Please avoid ridiculing. Everyone has a right to hold a point of view. In case you want, you can disagree with the same. The bill may not be as strong as one would have wanted. It was a good starting point. Who knows. a strong lokpal bill without any transparency, as suggested by Shri. Anna Hazare may not be desirable. Anna and his team also should understand everone does not agree with his view. Even justice Hedge had a different approach. Also, people like Rajinder Singh also disagreed with his team.

Seriously,it feels like every political party played the biggest drama possible and we have nothing to do but just swallow their act.The congress put's up an act by drafting a useless bill.
What anna is doing now is wrong and now it is clear that he is a puppet of

Yes every right thinking person will support Anna but his team members like Kejariwal and Shanti Bhushan and his son Prashant seems to be pro BJP. It cannot be accepted . The notion that only congressman are doing all bad things cant be accepted by any means. They have done lots of service to the nation. I want to what BJP has done . What Advaniji has done . What Sushma has done. What is her philosophy.What Mr Arun Jaitely has contributed as leader of opposition except speaking and preaching. Every body knows how much he charge from his clients for appearing courts. Whether he is declaring all amounts in his returns.They should voted in support of Lokpal Bill instead of playing politics and blaming GOVT. Whether they have forgotten the India shining.They just talk but don't do anything. Anna ji I pray to you to cooperate with Govt and get this bill passed instead playing in the hands of THESE people who have done nothing for this country.
Yes what Resp.anna Hazare is doing is good for removing poverty and have better life for poor and middle class people. I feel before independance british ruled India THEIR INFRASTRUCTURE IS STILL ALIVE. After independance politicians are after making money only. what we gained after independance poor is becoming more poor day by day and politicians are moneyed within span of time. Is any body there to stop all these ?
Anna should fast at the house of BJP leaders who did not support the Lokpal Bill. Lallu is at least honest. Others are also not interested. in having Lokpal. Congress seems to be genuinely interested in fighting corruption
We pray to all mighty God for speedy recovery of respected Sh.Anna Hazare. Nation needs him very much in his fight against corruption.It is our sincere submission that he should maintain calm within himself to keep himself healthy.Transient jerks of frustration and difficulties are part of his struggle but success is DESTINED to him in his crusade.Please do not get provoked or excited by what some persons utter against you. The all mighty God and the entire nation is behind you.

Really? The doctor said that??? Then I guess we all suffer from the same ailment. Tragic! I love these doctors who get to the root of the problem. That Dr. Trehan who suggested yogic powers of fasting to the new Gandhi is unforgettable. "Kuch shakti hai" and medical science cannot approach it, apparently. Open up more capitation fees medical colleges so we can show the world what an advancement we have made in medicine - from the purely physical to the metaphysical.
