Imprisoned human rights activist Binayak Sen's ailing mother has said that she will move the High Court and, if needed, the Supreme Court, to undo the “injustice” meted out to her son.

Dr. Sen was sentenced to life imprisonment on sedition charges by a Chhattisgarh court.

Anasua Sen, 84, told journalists on Monday that she would move the High Court early next month seeking a bail, and hoped that her son would be released.

“If I need to move the Supreme Court, I will do so, so that my son will be free. My son is absolutely innocent. He has worked for the betterment of the poor in Chhattisgarh, for which he was given the globally recognised Jonathan Mann Award,” Ms. Sen said.
