YSR Congress honorary president Y.S. Vijayamma on Tuesday asserted that YSRC would form the government after next Assembly elections in the State by bagging more than 200 seats and send not less than 30-35 MPs to the Lok Sabha.

Ms. Vijayamma undertook a daylong ‘deeksha’ at Indira Park here as part of the protest against what the YSRC termed as “illegal incarceration” of the party president and Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy in connection with the quid pro quo case. Y.S. Bharathi Reddy, wife of Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy, and several women functionaries of the party participated in the ‘deeksha’.

Talking to The Hindu, Ms. Vijayamma accused the Congress and the Telugu Desam of indulging in “political fixing.” But the people were aware of their game and would teach them a befitting lesson during the Assembly elections. YSRC was always in the forefront in taking up people’s issues and would emerge triumphant in the local bodies’ polls and if any by-elections were held, she said.

‘TDP protecting government’

Charging TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu with trying to protect Kiran Kumar Reddy government, she said the Congress on its part was enacting drama with regard to resignation of Ministers. People would not believe the two parties, she added

Asked if there was a possibility of YSRC moving closer to Congress in the post-election scenario, she quipped “who can say what will happen after elections.”

She said both Congress-led United progressive Alliance (UPA) and BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) were no good and the chances were bright for the Third Front to play a key role at the Centre.

YSRC would take any decision depending on the situation and keeping in view the aspirations of people.

Later, Ms. Vijayamma addressed the gathering at the venue and alleged that the CBI was intentionally delaying the probe.

She said some of the Ministers were feeling hurt when described as “corrupt” by their political adversaries. But they never responded when former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s name was included in the FIR or cases were booked against Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy. Similar ‘deekshas’ and protest rallies were held all over the State.

Y.S. Sharmila too undertook a ‘deeksha’ at Palacole in West Godavari district.
