YSR Congress leader Y.S. Sharmila on Thursday sought a massive mandate for the fledgling party with an assurance of fighting to protect the rights of people and put the State back on the path of development.

Kicking off the party's campaign at Chimakurthi in Prakasam district, she said: “If the YSR Congress is voted to power, it will exert pressure on the future Prime Minister and ensure justice for the State that was split like a coconut with the TDP giving a free hand to the Centre.”

Amidst loud cheers, she addressed to a massive gathering at the ‘Jana Bheri’.

“Let us join hands to make Jagan anna the Chief Minister and bring back Rajanna Rajyam,” she said drumming up support for his brother.

Naidu flayed

Comparing the YSR regime with erstwhile TDP rule and the Kiran Kumar Reddy government, she recalled that without hiking power tariff and imposing hefty taxes, YSR had carried forward the twin agenda of development and welfare. The YSRC will certainly implement all the YSR’s pet schemes including the Arogyasree and fee reimbursment with full vigour, she promised.

Striking an emotional chord with the gathering, she took pot-shots at TDP President N.Chandrababu Naidu saying the latter had many unkept promises to comply with.

Launching a scathing attack on Mr. Naidu, she cautioned the people not to get carried away by the freebies being promised by the TDP, adding that the party would hoodwink the people after the polls.

“ It was Mr. Naidu who had propped the Kiran Kumar Reddy government after striking a clandestine deal with the ruling Congress,” she alleged.
