YSRC asks TDP to support them raise special status issue in Parliament

November 25, 2015 05:50 pm | Updated 05:50 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The YSR Congress Party has sought the support of the Telugu Desam Party in effectively highlighting the need for granting special category status to Andhra Pradesh during the winter session of Parliament set to commence on Thursday.

The YSRC criticised the TDP for not making a mention of the special category status and other key issues facing the State during its Parliamentary Party meeting. “The TDP Parliamentary Party meeting failed to give specific direction or an effective agenda. The TDP MPs should join issue when the YSRC raises the issues during the winter session,” party leader Botcha Satyanarayana said.

The YSRC had resolved to raise special category status issue as also the need for enhancing the minimum support price to farmers in addition to an effective procurement policy that would be in the interests of the farming community. The TDP, he alleged, was not keen on raising issues pertaining to the State as it is faced with allegations of irregularities in the irrigation projects.

While the Pattiseema Project, completed in a hurry, was ridden with charges of corruption, there was no change in respect of the State Government’s indifference. He asked the TDP MPs not to be content with special package and insist on the fulfilment of the promises made during the bifurcation of the State.
