YSRC seeks Presidential intervention

July 10, 2014 11:44 pm | Updated 11:44 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Cadres and leaders of the party are ‘scared’ of the attitude of the TDP government and the way the ruling party was adopting intimidatory tactics in coercing, luring them into its fold does not augur well in a democracy, said YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.

In a letter to President Pranab Mukherji, Mr. Reddy sought his intervention in the matter and advise the Union Home Ministry to send out a suitable advisory to the Government of Andhra Pradesh, to stop the TDP from intimidating the Opposition and engineering defections right from members of Mandal and Zilla Parishads, municipal wards to members of the Legislative Assembly, Council and even Lok Sabha.

. The YSRC had also met Andhra Pradesh Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan and submitted a memorandum to him.

This behaviour of the TDP leaders, he said, was one of utter disrespect for democratic norms and showed they were working with a clear design to physically eliminate the opposition.
