YSR Congress MLAs will undertake a ‘bus yatra’ to tour Pattiseema, Polavaram project, Prakasam Barrage and Pothireddypadu Head Regulator areas from Wednesday to expose the ‘double standards’ of the ruling Telugu Desam Party.

A meeting of the YSRC Legislature Party chaired by party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy was held here on Monday to chalk out future course of action to highlight the ‘failures of the TDP government. Also on the YSRC’s agenda was to showcase the fact the ruling party was taking people of Rayalasema for a ride.

YSRC MLA from Uravakonda Y. Visveswara Reddy said they would cover irrigation projects in Rayalaseema, including the Handri-Neeva and Galeru-Nagari Projects during next phase of agitation. He said against a requirement of Rs. 3,000 crore, a paltry Rs. 212 crore was allocated to the Handri-Neeva project and likewise, only Rs. 170 crore was allocated for the Galeru-Nagari whereas about Rs. 1,500 crore were needed for its completion.

“It is very clear that the ruling party wants to dilute the Polavaram project by appearing to be pro-active on completing the Pattiseema project in one year,” Mr. Reddy said. At the YSRLP meeting, it was also decided to hold a ‘Mock Assembly’ on Tuesday at the Media Point in the premises of the AP Legislative Assembly.

After the meeting, while Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy went to call on Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, his party MLAs drove to the Assembly and staged a protest sitting on the road right before the statue of Mahatma Gandhi though prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code were in force.

The MLAs shouted slogans against the ruling party for running the House without the Opposition. They also protested against the Speaker alleging that he was discriminating against them in the House by providing more timing for the TDP to speak.
