YSRC member speaks on Bill after its passage

March 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Assembly witnessed a strange situation on Thursday when YSR Congress member Akhila Priya chose to speak on a Bill that was already passed.

The member sought time when the AP Labour Welfare Fund (Amendment) Bill was being discussed but she spoke on the amendment to the VAT Bill.

Opposing the recent hike of Rs. 4 on petrol and diesel, she said the State was already collecting highest tax and further increase would burden the common man.

The Speaker explained that as the VAT Bill was already passed, it could not be opened but allowed her to speak as she was not aware of the procedure.

Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said once a Bill was passed no one could be permitted to speak. If the new member wanted to speak she could but no reply would be given in the House.
