The newly-elected MLAs of YSR Congress party in Seemandhra would meet on May 21 to elect their new leader.

The election of party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy as the YSRC legislature party leader could be just a formality, party sources say.

YSR Congress party has won 67 out of the 175 Assembly seats in Seemandhra in the recent elections and eight out of the 25 Lok Sabha constituencies in Seemandhra.

The meeting would take place at Idupulapaya in Kadapa district, where the ‘samadhi’ of late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy is located, YSRCP said in a release.

The legislators would pay homage to the departed leader and Jaganmohan Reddy would meet all the party candidates who contested the recent Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, the release said.
