Star campaigners of the YSR Congress – its president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, honorary president Vijayamma and Sharmila – have suspended their electioneering for two days following the untimely death of party leader Bhuma Shobha Nagi Reddy on Thursday.

Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy was campaigning at Ponnuru in Guntur district when he received the shocking news. He immediately suspended his canvassing with an appeal to the people there that he had to visit Ms. Shobha Nagi Reddy.

Similarly, Ms. Vijayamma campaigning in West Godavari district and Ms. Sharmila in Anantapur district also suspended their electioneering and rushed back to Hyderabad. Ms. Vijayamma visited the body of Ms. Shobha Nagi Reddy in a private hospital where she breathed last due to multiple injuries suffered in a road accident near Allagadda in Kurnool district on Wednesday night.

Official spokesperson of the party Vasireddy Padma said the three leaders had decided to suspend their campaign as a mark of respect to the departed soul. They would participate in the last rites of Ms. Shobha Nagi Reddy at Allagadda on Friday.
