YSRC banks on youth, women in Seemandhra

The YSR Congress Party leadership, which kept its arsenal busy for campaigning in Telangana, has shifted its energies to Seemandhra now.

Party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, who resumed his ‘YSR Jana Bheri’ in Krishna district on Tuesday, is set to intensify his campaign, while honorary president Y.S. Vijayamma and star campaigner of the party Sharmila are going all-out by addressing numerous election rallies and taking out road shows.

The party, which is banking heavily on the support of youth and women, is busy working out strategies to further infuse the popular mood on various welfare schemes implemented by late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

Promises such as waiver of loans taken by the self-help groups, implementation of improved health insurance scheme, banning belt shops and construction of houses are aimed at winning over women electorate.

The party leadership is confident of winning a minimum of 40 seats out of a total 52 in Rayalaseema and over 80 out of 123 in coastal Andhra. Party sources said the leadership is worried about squabbling among local leaders .
