The city police on Tuesday arrested a youth, J. Bharath Kumar, and seized stolen jewellery and cash worth Rs. 11.58 lakh from him.
Additional Superintendent of Police R. Gangadhar and Town DSP S. Maqbul said the accused, a student, had resorted to stealing for making quick money. Kumar had gained entry into the house of Sk. Karimunneesa on Chandramoulinagar 7th line three days ago and decamped with the jewellery when she was away.
Based on a complaint lodged by the woman, police arrested the youth near Dargamitta.
